Title: FliFi not working nicely with CGX - interleaving problem
Post by: Flashlab on November 24, 2007, 01:47:19 PM
Finetuning my config here since my latest purchase. I was planning to go completely to CGX and use my PicassoIV as a flicker fixer.
I installed CGX4 with drivers for Voodoo3 and PIV; they both work in RTG. When I try a WHDLoad game I get interleaved moving objects though. This never happened in P96. I tried without any driver in Monitors (no CGX driver should be loaded then?) and then the problem goes away. So I guess the PicassoIV driver does something to the FliFi settings. Version of the driver is 4.4.

Does anyone have a fix for this problem? Could I use the PIV as a FliFi without using its driver but with the Voodoo active? I would only need a monitor switcher then? Or would it be easier to get a cheap TV card and connect the Voodoo to that?

I may want to use the PIV too for RTG as I have this weird problem that the Voodoo produces yellow borders around ShapeShifter screens; doesn't happen with other apps.

Long post; as you can see still some finetuning needed!

The scandoubler part of the PIV works completely without any driver just with the setting in it`s flash. there is a P4Flickerfixer driver installed in Monitors under P96 though.

When I read VooDoo and CGX I assume you use a G-Rex / CSPPC combo. The later flashes of the CSPPC had to option to turn on a "software scandoubler" for the CVisionPPC and GRex. If this is turned on it might interfere with the PIV Flickerfixer. (Don`t know if the RGB signal actually is modified or just copied from and then "patched" in the GFX mem of the graphicscard

@Lemmink

I do have the G-Rex and CS-PPC combo. I haven't found the software scandoubler option yet though; will look into it.

It seems though that the CGX PIV driver does influence the FliFi behaviour. If I boot without the PIV driver the FliFi works like it should work...

I don`t recall in wich submenu the option is. I belive it was in System. It can be set to "31 kHz video" and "no 31kHz video"

Isn't that just for the menu itself?

Not only. This "software scandoubler" will be active as long as not RTG system is loaded. You can perfectly run the WB on it, though the colors might look funny some times. This feature will be switched off once an RTG screen is opend for the first time. Don`t know what might be still active in the background that could cause problems.....

I tested with both options for 31khz but it makes no difference. The only difference is whether I have the PIV driver in Monitors or not.
