Title: A1 Linux problem

well the A1XE is my first ever tower i have been
using laptops and A1200 its now bolted together
and works fine iam a newby to Linux so bare with
me.I have got it installed ok following the guide but
can't seem to type anything when it asks for a password and comes up with a error that some port
is'nt working and yes i have chosen a keyboard driver.I hope when i wake up in the morning someone might have answered.Linux installation
really SUX  :-(  :-(  :-(

It might be memory problems. The AtriciaS is notorious for being finicky with the types of SDRAM that works with it.  Me and a few of the locals have experimented with a variety of different SDRAM sticks in Aone computers.  We had machines that experienced all kinds of odd behavior each time fixed when substituted with known good SDRAM.  One Dealer even had an Aone motherboard sent to a Memory manufacturer so they could come up with a formula that works. This resulted in late night conference calls and muttering Asians, But they mange to come up with a set of Modules known to work.  If you have two sticks installed try one or switch the FSB to 100 and see if that fixes it.  If you can get a Buddy to loan you one that works in his machine or find a Pegasos owner to loan you one of his to try.  :-)

it comes up with the error
hub,c: connect-debounce failed,port 2 disabled
NO CHEAP PEGASOS PLUGS PLEASE ?

are you using an usb keyboard?
if not, that error has got nothing to do with it since it is an error message about usb.

no iam using a ps2 keyboard

I checked this out with some linux tech's i know and they said this is a problem experenced by quite a few people on the PC/INTEL arch using usb input devices such as Keboards and mice. I presume that you are using a USB keyboard. if so when the prompt for you to login appears diconnect your keyboard and then reconnect it after which it should work. Hope this helps ;-)

I get that error as well. Just ignore it. It only happens during boot, or during the debian installation. Once linux is installed, the machine works fine.

If you're not using USB, USB errors is NOT your problem.

Log in as root and proceed on to install X + KDE or Gnome, I don't think text consoles is the thing for you, sorry :-)
