I have an intel PC running WinXP, P3, 930mhz, 512k ram.
My main interest would be to run ImageFX and the Amiga version of Imagine3D, since I don't really have much time for games. Others have reported that both IFX and I3D run super on WinUAE and make them really worthwhile since they speed up the processing way above what my 040 Ami can do. So, is my PC fast enough. The UAE website said that his 600mhz Celeron was unable to handle anything, and that his 1.6gig PC was tolerable (at least for games). Since I'm in the middle, is it worth the trouble of installing it?

I would think that with the JIT enabled it should run reasonably well. I say give it a whirl. :-)

Imagine & the like will simply fly using WinUAE on your machine compared to a 040. It's certainly worth the try.

If you don't intending to use your peecee for Amiga games, the better option is grab an Amithlon CD to run professional Amiga programs.
--EDIT--
Silly me! You have a P3 peecee. It don't run Amithlon. Try AROS instead!

It's beyond fast enough. I used to run WinUAE on a clunker PentiumII 366MHz laptop with terrible integrated graphics. With the JIT and UAEGFX P96 driver, it was faster than my real (060 + RTG) Amiga.

Just try it and take it for a spin.

Whew, thats good to know.
Well, nothing but for to give it a whirl then. Thanks.

Yes it does.
P3 was all the rage when Amithlon came out.

I'm not too sure what effect the native OS has on the performance of WinUAE - but under XP I'd certainly recommend popping in at least another 512Mb of ram. A faster CPU (say >1.6GHz) would improve things also.
I'm using an Athlon 3200+ (2.0GHz, Barton core) with 1Gb of ram on WinXP and everything's just dandy.
:-D

I run UAE on a 550mHz PIII. It runs pretty well. It is under Win98SE rather than XP though.
