Hi I've contacted RealSoft to see if they would let me have a copy of Real3D version 2 (or anything later than 1.4). Looks like this is freeware now, has anyone got a copy, please read, thanks:

Sorry, but we do not support the Amiga platform any more.
For your information, you will get a good discount if you decide to upgrade
to one of the new supported platforms (Linux, Mac, Windows).
Kind regards,

My Message2:
Hi,
Ok, but have you got an old copy on your server you could email?
is this now freeware?
The Reply2
Unfortunately we do not have it available any more. It is indeed now freeware, so you can freely use the Amiga version if you manage to find one from the Internet.

I'm surprised RealSoft is still in business!
I have had difficulty determining what the latest/last version of Real3D was for the Amiga - anybody know? I have version 2.4, looks like I can't get updates from RealSoft, they have gone Soft.
-
Could you email me a copy please? - its is freeware. Thanks, rick.
-
Hmm.. I wonder if any Amiga reseller has it in stock anymore? Anyway I have at least version 3.3 for Amiga...
-
3.5 is the newest. I have if anybody wants it.
-
Bring it on!! :-D
-
Can I have it then please??? - I've sent a PM
-
I'd like a copy too please! I'll PM you with my contact info... if you don't mind of course!
Thanks!
-
Cool. I wouldn't mind a copy as well. pMail sent.
-
Maybe we could obtain "official" permission and then upload it to Aminet?
Just a thought.
Ed.

Excellent idea.

That really good of them, maybe you should ask if a copy could be uploaded to Aminet.

Their product is now called Realsoft 3D there were plans to make an OS4 version, but it looks like that fell through.

Errrm, what might this software be? :-(
-
It's a 3D modelling/raytracing package.

That sounds like a plan ;)
Could the original poster please forward the two mails to aminet@aminet.net (or post them here), so we can directly contact the person you talked to?
If somebody has a complete copy of the latest full version (I wouldn't even know what version number that would be), please upload it to Aminet. Uploading a readme isn't neccessary, but if you upload only the readme please either post here or drop us a mail so we know what's up.

I'll archive all the disks I have and upload them to aminet tonight when I get home.
Btw, I also have "Phenomena" for Real3D which is a really cool special effects package. I believe Phenomena was only made for the Amiga version of Real3D.
Since Phenomena is useless without Real3D for Amiga, could we logically conclude that this is now freeware also?

Sounds interesting...

@stopthegop
The email he's quoting only indicates that version 2 is freeware, not any other version.

I don't read it that way. I read the second response '...Amiga version...' as meaning any Amiga version as they don't support that platform any more.
-
Great stopthegop! I have sent you a PM already.

Exactly. He emphasized the point about not supporting the Amiga platform and stated "version 2" as an afterthought. He probably forgot which particular version was the last Amiga version..
-
If someone get permission to upload it to aminet I would pricieid like to see older version too.
I've learned to use 1.4 quite well
-
I've had a look on Aminet but I can't find the archive anywhere
-
its pending approval by aminet mods
-
Nice one - thanks stopthegop!

That's because we can't host it on Aminet just because someone said he's heard somewhere that it's now freeware - we need a license from the copyright owner.
That's why I need copies of the mails the original poster was quoting from - or at least the contact address he was using. I'll ask that guy for the permission to host v3.5 and the addons, and then it will be made available to the public.
-
I want a copy ! :-D
-
Give us a shout when it goes public :-)
Thanks folks,
Hodgkinson.

Yes - of course - I'm highly interested!
Please let me know how I can obtain a copy...
-
Any progress on getting it to Aminet? I would really like to give it a try some day.

Maybe you could help - can you run over to Tampere and get upload permission from them? :) Why, you could probably even ask them nicely in Finnish to soften them up!
