Title: PPC Accelerators
Post by: rattlehead on November 15, 2007, 01:29:15 PM
This question may have been brought up before but I was wondering.

With the current state of Amiga Hardware being what it is and the release of OS4 for classic Amigas being a wish come true, why hasn't anyone out there stepped up and begin producing the Blizzard PPC Accl. Cards.  I mean everyone knows that there is a market for them and now with OS4 it solidifies the need for these units.  I have and A1200 that I have been trying to get an Accl. for and they sell for unbelievable amounts on Ebay auctions.  So if I had the rights and patents for them I would be making them by the lot.  I mean the Minimig is being produced in small batches and they are selling them so why note make some A1200 Blizzard PPC cards.  I know there is potential to sell at least 1000 units out the starting gate.  And if you are just the least bit more competitive than the current ebay pricing you are gauranteed sales.

Just a thought.

This have been discussed many times before. -> Too expensive parts, hard to get parts, rohs design etc etc .. :(

Buy the rights from bplan/dce if you got the money. Then get someone to redesign it, get new parts... Its not easy ..

I think someone still owns the rights to BPPC cards, so not just anyone can begin to manufacture these. Minimig is open source, which enables anyone to make them.
