Im not gonna bother with writing a totally new post, so i'll just paste what i wrote on amigaweb

MorphOS 2.0 On PPC equipped Amigas

A quick forum post (http://www.morphzone.org/modules/newbb_plus/viewtopic.php?topic_id=5562&post_id=53873&order=0&viewmode=flat&pid=53872&forum=14#53873) on MorphZone quickly revealed that a Amiga PPC version of MorphOS 2.0 isn't planned unless interest is shown.

This interest can be shown in the form of amongst other things, donations. Donating also buys a copy of MorphOS 1.4.5. MorphOS1.4.5 only supports the GRex PCI interface on Amigas. Since not all of us own the GRex, it isn't an option for many of us, however AGA is supported.

Anyway we may look at it, MorphOS is an important part of our community, both for compatibility and development. Since a lot of good software is MorphOS only. To donate and buy a copy of MorphOS 1.4.5 and support further development visit http://powerup.morphos-team.net/ (http://powerup.morphos-team.net/)

Heh,

I think MOS2.0 would be even cooler for the EFIKA.

Yup I'm waiting for it...

Blah, I realize that these kinds of things are really complicated, and require a huge amount of effort.

But lets face it...Who wants to wait for anything.

I did a quick read of the forum discussion and the Powerup page by the morphos team, but I didn't see anything that said Bvision, Cybervision, and PicassoIV would not work with MorphOS 1.4.5.  Did I miss something that says that MorphOS 1.4.5 won't work with my CSPPC 233mHz 604e w/Permedia2 8mb Cypervision attached?

when they first did commercial for the first versions they saied you shoud minimum have an amiga ppc with permedia gfx "bvision cvision" so yes it should work ... The only PCI support is trugh Grex in early versions you could hack the mediator to work with 68k driver but i think it can not be done any more .... There are plenty of people tried Morph os with only a ppc card and a permedia addon card.  Try it  :-)

just for clarification ...

MOS 1.4.5 PowerUP Edition, is not a commercial product.

Is free to download with a Donation scheme (if you wish although without any official support ... even if i/we got a lot of help from some kind guys on #morphos IRC)

Said that, MOS 1.4.5 for PuP, supports mainly CSPPC/CVPPC, BPPC/BVisionPPC and G-Rex natively.

Other GFX cards works with theyrs CGX 68K drivers

Edit- btw...

look at this litle jewel by an italian user ... Tubexx (http://www.webalice.it/pgermano/tubexx/main.html)

it works fine on MOS for PowerUP (being a rexx macro that uses MPlayer to show youtupe clips)

Nice. Especially like the tissue box strategically placed for those "emergencies"

Since there seems to be a lot of inconsistent information floating around, here is what I understand to be a summary of the situation:

-MOS 2.0 for PowerUp boards is undecided
-MOS 1.4.5 for classics is free, donations and registrations will encourage backporting MOS 2.0
-GRex is the only PCI graphics card solution supported. Otherwise any board supported by Cybergraphx will work, most under 68K emulation. AGA can be made hack-ily operational.
-If MOS 2.0 is released for PowerUp, it will again be a download/register/donate kind of distribution.

So send in those donations!

Oh come on. MOS for Classic Amiga is a complete waste. We have workbench for classics, spend the effort developing something for a platform with ferkn hardware that's not from the stone-age already. Same with OS4, who cares? Get us something we can use on our PCs, go help out the AROS project or something. 68k and ppc is dead.
