Okay I have been installing TCP stacks for years, including the finigy chameleon tcp back in the windows 3.1 days (post amiga for me), and I have to say Miami is about the worst documented one.
I am interested in buying this product, but I really feel this needs some repackaging and some TLC.. I can't find anything here new that made the "I am okay to run with cnet.device". I bought a 16 bit Netgear FA411 card which shows some promise (card patch and card reset works), and the CARDINFO capture from cnet.device works and identifies the card fine. I can even get Miami to see it's there and Query extra sana-II params from it, but I get 100% packet loss when I try a trace or a ping..
I sent the cnet dump of the card info to the author. I hope that I hear back from him..
Has anyone got more experience with AmiTCP
I am not totally convinced this is a cnet.device issue.
I wanna hear something from someone who got Cnet.device working with miami or others who had to struggle with it..

I have the exact same problem with my netgear 410tx

AmiTCP is good enough if you don't need DHCP. It's faster and lighter than Miami.. And I mean the old, free version. If you are familiar with Unix/Linux ifconfigs etc then AmiTCP is for you :-D

Bored ? Hell no, he got disgusted with all pirated keys IIRC..

I have tried the FA411 card with Miami two times now and it just locks up the computer when I try to go online with or without CardPatch.
The reason for this is that cnet.device doesnt seem to be totally buddy with the ASIX AX88790-chipset which is used in the FA411 card. The AX88790-chipset is supposed to be "almost" NE2000 compatible, but there seem to be some small difference which gives this result. I think this is the reason why this chipset got a separate driver in linux. This driver uses most of the sourcecode for the standard DS8390-chipset (NE2000) (correct me if I am wrong), but some parts are a bit different.

I don't own one of these cards, but have been intrigued by the Netgear posts here over the past couple weeks. I have wanted to network my 1200 for over a year, but never got around to fully investigating my options. $75+ for an Amiga-specific PCMCIA card and adapter, or $200+ for a Mediator and PCI card seemed like a waste of money when I might just buy an AmigaOne. And until now, I though cnet.device worked only with very old PCMCIA cards that are only availble used.
Whenever you reach a conclusion about the card, would you post it here? And if you decide the card is unworkable, perhaps you'd consider mailing it to Harry to let him have a personal look? :-)
Is anybody else aware of new, off-the-shelf PCMCIA cards commonly available in the US, that work well with cnet.device?

I bought the netgear fa410tx thats reported to work with cnet.device. If anyone has this card working please contact me!?!
I have a linksys bct something, and it works great, never a problem.
Back to original post though, does your link lights ever stop blinking? I think thats the only reason there not working, how can we simulate the pc command to only do 10mbit or 100 mbit only.

I have mine (fa410tx) cabled into a 100Mbit hub with no problems. Both lights on steady unless data is flowing, then the link/act light flashes.

The funny thing about it is both lights are on *ALL* the time.. It's a great card. I just can't find any supported cards in this area, and don't wanna get ripped buying one of these elsewhere. I think it's time for me to attend an "antique" computer show..

I had a 410tx, and it did not work (even though
CARDINFO recognized it, etc) I pulled my hair
out for about two weeks before I bought an
Edimax EP-4000, which solved all problems.
With Miami and Genesis, setup with cnet.device
is easy and works flawless...my guess is the
card doesn't work. The telltale sign for me was
when the "activity" led finally began to flash
during transfer with the Edimax; I could never
get that on the Netgear.

Both lights stayed continuously lit on my
Netgear as well.

Hmmmmmm.....weird. I just tryed the old
card again (for the hell of it) and both
lights just blink simultaneously on and off...
they *should* both stay lit with a working
card. Do you have a router you could plug
the card into to see if they "link"? Then you
would probably know for sure...my Netgear card
wouldn't "link up" with anything.
