Now, there are adapters available that allow you to use a PS/2 mouse in Amiga and there are adapters that allow you to stick a USB mouse into PS/2 port. By combining these two adapters you can get an optical USB mouse connected into Amiga and it works - at least the basics.
How about ditching the extra bit and making an USB to Amiga mouse adapter? I suppose basic two button and movement function should be doable. Has anyone already made such an adapter? I know you can get USB ports into Amiga via the clock port but for basic mouse usage the adapter would be a cheaper alternative.

Does that mean it's not a true USB -> Amiga converter, and will only work with mice which output PS/2 signals from the PS/2 port? (IOW ones which work with the USB -> PS/2 adapters)

Is your USB version using the PIC16F84 too? Did you have to modify the code much?
I have a few of those microcontrollers, it would be fun to see if I can build one of these myself.

cool stuff there Chain, as always :-D

I just use those green USB adapters that come with most mice and plug it into my cocolino mouse adapter . Only problem is that it build quite some leanght

yes, code remains unmodified

I've been using a USB (PS2 compatible) mouse with the PS2M adapter for months now. Ok - it's not true USB - but who cares?
I've got my mouse and wireless keyboard hooked up to the built-in USB connectors on my A600 DIY tower project.
If your tower/desktop doesn't have the connectors already built-in - Maplins sell a backplane with two USB connectors for around a fiver.

I didn't know this actually worked. Well,.. this means I've got to go to the electronics store and buy some PCB materials. :-D

Get that soldering iron on darule!
PS2M and IBMkey2.6 work a treat. You can build both for a total cost of around £20/E30 and a few hours labour. Well worth it! :-D

WoW that is a great DIY guide! I have been looking for one a long time and this is perfect! Time to ditch my original Amiga mouse.

Great work Chain !
