Title: No zorro cards recognized on amiga4000
Post by: amiga4001 on November 11, 2007, 09:22:31 PM
I had to remove the socket for the buster chip off my amiga 4000 as it was very unstabile.
I soldered the buster directly to the mobo, quite an adventure.
Only two legs broken which I fixed with a string off wire.
It booted up nicely (which in the socket I had to push down firmly to boot).
But no zorro cards are being recognized and offcourse with it the mediator.
I am already looking for a replacement mobo but is there somewhere a scheme at which I can make out which pinouts from the buster chip go to where?
Just a last effort to get it going.

Not the smartest thing to solder a chip to the board - maybe killed it with heat. You should've replaced the old socket with a new one...

If you need the schematics, you can PM me your mail address (16.5 MB).

Send it to JJ at Amiga Center France.
He'll fix it for you, cheaper then buying another A4000 board (ehr, depends on how much damage you have done to the board, obviously)

Um wrong.  He charges $150+ for repairing 4000 mb.  Then you have to account S&H...  I just bought another working board for cheaper.

No won't repair this one anywhere.
It already has sound problems(mono) and the not being recognized off zorro already was a problem before I started the operation.
So all together it's not worth the effort.

yeah, a replacement mobo would be better in your case...
consider giving away your damaged mobo, maybe someone here can salvage and use it, please don't bin it

I agree, never bin it. That's blasphemy.

@amiga4001

repairing the board is no problem. For recognize the Zorrocards look at U702, U704 and U706. For sound you have to look for a new U403 and look the capacitators.

best regards,
Jochen

Well the U403 I already removed in the past.
I crossed two resistors to cross this missing chip.
That worked allright until now.
Guess the ic before has died it has sound but just mono and I checked the connections several times..ok.
But I made a mess on the buster.
Still keeping the mobo for now as it still runs ok for the rest and is a nice testmachine.
