Title: Pro-Grab 24RT Plus PCMCIA Interface - Help re pinout
Post by: Hodgkinson on November 11, 2007, 09:00:02 PM
Hi folks,
I hope someone can help me out here. I have a PCMCIA adaptor for a Pro-Grab 24RT Plus, but unfortunately one of the wires on the D connector has broken off (The previous owner had converted the D connector to a back-plane leaving the connections exposed) and I could really do with the wiring connections for the D connector to check that where I *think* the wire should go is correct.

Any help appreciated,
Hodgkinson.

Hi there,
All the wires coming from the PCMCIA card are grey, except for the red identifier wire.

TBO, I doubt a photo would help since its difficult to see individual wires in a cluster on a photo, and apart from that I’ve already soldered the wire back on to where I *think* it came from.

If someone could have a look inside a D connector on one of these cards and note down what number wire goes to which D connector pin that would be great!
(If another wire happened to fall off, then I could always check where it’s meant to go, and im sure that someone else might benefit from this info one day :-D ).

Cheers,
Hodgkinson.

OK. Thanks for that. Im in the middle of building a +9v regulator for it anyway, so it can run from the A1200 +12v, and thats going to take a while to finish.

Please let me know if you manage to find it (Oh, is the 25 pin D on yours inside a D connector hood, or is it bolted onto a backplane slot plate? Mine was bolted to a slot plate when I got it, but I figure the previous owner had done this to use it inside his A1200T).

Cheers,
Hodgkinson.

Anyone else got one of these PCMCIA cards?

I'd love to be able to test the frame grabber out, but Id also not like to destroy it in the process  :-D

Things must really move fast on this forum. It only takes an hour or so for a thread to drop off the home page list :-)

I decided to plug everything together, cross my fingers, and turn the system on today. So far, everything seems to be working OK.

Just in case someone else might need to know the pinout of the PCMCIA adaptor:

Wire ----- D Connector pin
1 (Red) ----- 1
2 ----- 14 to 22
3 ----- 2
4 ----- 3
5 ----- 4
6 ----- 5
7 ----- 6
8 ----- 7
9 ----- 8
10 ---- 9
11 ---- 14 to 22
12 ---- 11
13 ---- 12
14 ---- 13
15 ---- 14 to 22

Inside the adaptor case:
Elsat 199
Ver. 1.1

Since I had to make an educated guess as to where one of the wires went to before it broke off, I can't guarantee that the above information is correct - But everything seems to work OK anyway :-)

Regards,
Hodgkinson.
