Title: Who will buy both?
Post by: GadgetMaster on July 13, 2003, 11:28:43 AM
I saw the other thread and was wondering if there are any developers or enthusiasts (rich ones) that have or will buy both the Pegasos and the AmigaOne and will have Morph OS as well as the future OS4.

I am sure there are some people that can afford it and dont care about the politics.

So do we have anyone here ? It would be nice to see both sides of the coin.

(P.S. It was just a matter of time before someone posted this thread... anyone see it coming?)  :-P

Yeah ...  will buy both ... Not immediately ( I'm not made of money) but certainly in the not too distant future.

Myself I would like to own both but finances don't allow for it yet.

I have a habit of collecting gadgets just for the sake of owning the technology. I don't need half of the things I buy :-D

When a small form factor PPC motherboard comes out that can fit in a micrATX case like THIS (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/slim_pc/slm/pro_slm_detail.php?UID=431&MODEL=MEGA651), I will be one of the first to rush out and buy it.
Finances permitting or not, that's what credit cards are for aren't they? :-P

Well if you're going to buy both you may as well get the one with an OS first.

Hello
I plan to buy both motherboards, if Amiga Inc or
TAO Group released AmigaDE / Intent for Linux PowerPC.
I want to create some sort of Bewoulf cluster.
There is a giant case that can be used with 2 separate
ATX motherboards. My actual target is PowerPC 970
2.5 GHz accelerator cards / motherboards.

Unfortunately, I cann't find any good system intergrator
familiar with both motherboards and operating systems.
The answer from several system intergrators:
* Amiga is already DEAD, long FORGOTTEN and NOBODY
use it anymore.
* We don't sell any system less than 2 GHz!

Any idea about a bona fide system intergrator for
both motherboards and operating systems?

@GadgetMaster

With a name like that I'd expect no less :-D

I'd like to get both as soon as I'm in a position too.

@Karlos

Yeah. That name was given to me by a friend and I stuck with it when I realised that I was indeed a sucker for gadgets.

A short list of some of my collection:

Amstrad Penpad (Handwriting recognition touchscreen PDA that was released well before PDAs took off)
Nokia communicator 9000 (English version on Orange)
Nokia communicator 9000i (Danish version)
Nokia communicator 9110 (Danish version)
Nokia Communicator 9210i (Current English version)
O2 XDA pocket PC / Phone PDA combo (My current mobile phone)
Casio (cheapo) vibrating alarm watch

Lost property: :-(
Nokia 7210 Wap phone
Touchscreen organiser watch
Compaq laptop

etc etc... :-P

Lost a few things there mate!

A friend came up from London with a company laptop - we went straight to Wimslow Rd. to get a curry.

He ended up leaving it at the restraunt - we had walked halfway home when I asked "Weren't you carrying something?"

He literally did an about turn and legged it back :-)

Thankfully the manager had found it and knew us quite well :-)

I will buy a Peg II first and a A1 later when OS4 is ready.

I bought pegasos and I'm happy with it. If OS4 is ported to Pegasos I might give it a try.

I was going to buy both - I have my Amiga club membership and am entitled to $50 from OS4.

However, having used MorphOS for a while, I really don't think OS4 could offer me anything extra, at least not £500+ worth that I would need to spend to run it (plus all the other components needed to make a working system).  So, unless OS4 is available for the Pegasos, I will donate my $50 coupon to someone who really wants OS4.

Thinking bout it - thinking mind....
And certain MOS users put me off - but I guess I shouldn`t let them put me off a system

Having Pegasos 1 now and intending to upgrade it to Pegasos 2  when it arrives.  Still keeping door open for other solutions (including Aone+OS4) but I need to see/test it myself before making such decision.
