Title: Deluxe Draw
Post by: motorollin on November 08, 2007, 12:22:55 PM
Does anyone remember a little paint package called Deluxe Draw (no I don't mean Deluxe Paint...) I used to use this on my A500 when I was a kid. It was probably rubbish compared to more modern packages, but I would love to find it for old times' sake :-) I have tried Googling and checking on Aminet but can't find it anywhere.

[EDIT]
Over a year late, the apostrophe has been added to "old times' sake" ;-)

Never heard of it, Moto.  I have Draw Studio, which is pretty slick in its own right.  Not "rubbish", anyway.  I prefer simple tools that do a few things well (and fast) as opposed to enormous, overly complicated tools that can do everything, eventually... and not so easily.

Are you sure you don't have it confused with Aegis Draw?  Aegis  Draw was supposed to be a CAD package but was very immature compared to other packages out there.

No, not Draw Studio or Aegis Draw. This was a bitmap only package, and very very simplistic. I think it was designed for children really. It was definitely called Deluxe Draw, as I remember when we got DPaint III I thought it was a new version of Deluxe Draw because of the name.

It's listed on this PD page (http://www.oldsoftware.com/amigapd.html), which at least proves it did exist :-)

Not found the program, but found some more info on it...

From the Amiga Shopper PD Directory.

Goldstar Computers, Slipped Disk 18

Deluxe Draw is written in AmigaBasic and, although very slow and only having one resolution to speak of, the program is very cleverly done and gives you access to all the basic graphic tools.

I found it!

Here's a screenshot (http://i298.photobucket.com/albums/mm244/motorollin/DeluxeDraw.jpg).

You can get it here:

AmigaBasicProgs.lha (http://www.nic.funet.fi/index/amiga/ancient/amicus/am08/)

As suspected, it is indeed rubbish  But the nostalgia factor is off the scale ;-)
