Title: Is there any update or extension for AMOS which makes use of the AGA chip or graphic cards?
Post by: creep on July 12, 2003, 04:08:39 PM
A few years ago I got very familiar with AMOS and AMOS Pro and - of course - it´s not useable anymore unless there were upgrades. Last year I heard about a sort-of-extension made by someone concerning AGA. Does anybody have news for me? What is possible with AMOS (Pro) nowadays?

Thx a lot! :-)

Welcome to A.org :-D

Some people here hate Amos, others love it.  What is true though is that it is completely tied to the Amiga's custom chips, and will certainly not work on OS4, MorphOS or even on Amithlon.  If you're interested, there are a few people developing Amos-inspired BASICs.

As for AGA, there are are a few extensions that might be what you are looking for on Aminet (http://us.aminet.net).

Thx  :-)  I´m not quite up to date with my knowledge about the Amiga´s development, just wanted to know if there´s kind of new version for new hardware and new OS.
Getting the money for an A-One and finding a new language is my goal...

If anyone can give me a hint concerning tools and languages...

The main language used on OS4 will be C - initially, the only development tool will probably be a modified GCC.

As for BASIC, I believe that Blitz Basic and it's deviants are fairly system-friendly (ie should work on OS4 without major adjustments).  These are languages like Blitz Basic 2 (http://www.blitz-2000.co.uk/), and there's something called "Pure Basic".  But I'd reseach first just to find out.

aminet should cover some of the amos hints and stuff for aga etc, but i was sure there was an official dev site of some sort (amos) but i can't find it , maybe someone else can help out..

anyway Amiblitz and blitzbasic is a good place to start,or just jump onto the c+ board, but ermmm assembler is the king ;)

You might try the AMOS Factory (http://www.liquido2.com) web page for redirects on all the best extensions and Amos installs but the boards have been fairly quiet since Sidewinder got called into the Air Force.
