Hello
Has anyone had problems installing their mediator on os3.9?
I have the original mediator cd that came with the board, but I'm pondering if it's lacking some files or something. When I try to launch the main installer in the root dir of the cd, it starts the installer, I check all the boxes to make sure all the drivers etc are copied. Then I hit proceed and it just exits without copying anything.
Soooo, what I did then was to run all the small installers in the sub folders (sound drivers, tv drivers, mediator system files, graphics&fast ethernet - etc). That at least made some files copy over, but still I get an error when I start the mixer, so I had to disable that on boot, also I lack the monitors and picasso tool crap that I need to use the voodoo card I have on the mediator.
Does anyone know if this is a known problem, or if there was some kind of updated version of the mediator driver cd?

Latest Mediator MMCD upgrade version is 1.26 here:
http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=375
A good alternative to Mixer is GhostMix (third party).
You will need to install Picasso96 separately and then run the graphics card installation script on the MMCD

Ah, doh :}
First time installing a gfx card, thanks!

Also check the guide for installing the video drivers. As well as installing P96 and the Mediator drivers, there's a fair bit of manual post-install config.

The latest MM CD did NOT have all the latest drivers. Sign up for the support mailing lists to get the latest drivers. Check your versions and locations of installed files here...

Good luck on setting up the Voodoo driver. Read the docs on the CD carefully as mentioned already.

Thanks for good help guys!
I'm trying to set up my voodoo first now so I can at least have a decent resolution with colors to finish the rest hehe.
I installed picasso and cvision3d and renamed the cvision files to voodoo etc, this is where I'm stuck atm:
It says Step4: "Click to the Voodoo icon (in Devs:Monitors drawer).
then it says Step5: "Start the Picasso96Mode program and select Attach setting to Board0: Voodoo"
---
I did step4, and at step5 I have opened Picasso96Mode and am looking around, I see "Attach setting to" in the top menu, but when I get the drop down menu that belongs to it- it only says "no board" <-- it should have said voodoo there right? Anyone got any idea why it doesn't?
Any help is greatly appreciated!

The Mixer problem is fixed when you install BoingBag1 and BoingBag2. The Mediator and Voodoo can be tricky. There are a lot of "gotchas".
1.First and foremost, make double sure the Mediator is fully seated on both sides.
2. Make sure the Zorro backplane is also fully seated in the slot.
3. Make sure Voodoo card is fully seated.
4. Check in the early startup-menu and make sure the Mediator is recognized: you should see "ProductID 2206/xx".
5. Boot the Amiga normally and run the "pciinfo" utility from a shell. If it returns "No PCI cards detected", repeat steps 1-3.
6. Check your "DEVS:Monitors" directory. There should be one file called Voodoo, nothing else.
7. Open the information requester for "Voodoo" and make sure you have the following tooltypes defined: "BoardType=Voodoo" and "SettingsFile=Devs:Picasso96Settings". The latter is default, the former has to be set manually.
8. Make sure you have the latest "voodoo.card" in the "Libs:Picasso96" directory.
9: open up you startup-sequence. You should see the command "loadmondrvrs" midway down. Below that there should be about 5 lines commented out with a preceding semicolon. These lines load the default Amiga video drivers and they should be commented out. If not, do so. Only "loadmondrvrs" is needed.
Thats not everything, but hopefully enough to get it working for you. Post here if you're still having problems.
EDIT: The "No Board" you describe means you need to do steps 1-3 as I stated above.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post to help!
I did all that, and it all checks out- everything seems in order
However I was a bit puzzled after I had done "pciinfo" in shell, it listed exactly 40 pci devices. None had info that I could make anything of, but the last good few seemed to have the same values. That must be a bit off, right?

Something is not seated correctly. Try the voodoo in a different PCI slot. Try reseating any Zorro cards you have as well

hi!,
I had exactly the same problem with my first mediator, you need to copy the install program from the os3.9 cd to your C dir on your hard drive this should get your mediator install script to run as said previously read the instructions carefully as the mediator setup can be a tad fiddly and frustrating.Theres a site on the web that gives step by step instructions which are easy to follow but for the life of me I cant remember it, maybe someone else can help with a link.
cheers
found the site

this should help you.

Ok, double checking that. *breaks out macgyver tools*

Ok, everything was seated perfectly like I thought. I swapped the cards around, no difference.
Also the 2206 is listed as working in boot options.
By the way this is a really silly question probably but, it was suggested to me that the mediator needed a power cable connected? Is this true? I didn't see anything like that.

I believe only for certain Mediators like the 3000/4000T. I don't think it's necessary for the 4000 versions.

Ok, I don't see anywhere it could be attached so I guess that's cleared up then.
Still can't seem to get Picasso96Mode to detect the voodoo board though :((

The voodoo card works if you put in a pc?
Hmm.. thinking.
Any other PCI card installed besides the Voodoo?
Which Voodoo card is it?
Can you post your s-s and whatever env variables you have set in "env:mediator" and "env:picasso96"?
there's a tool on aminet (I think) called "pcitool"? It gives more info than pciinfo and can be run from wb. Maybe give that a try?
-
Yes I have that mediator card thing that's in both a zorro and a pci slot, also I have a tvcard, and a soundblaster installed.
The voodoo is a voodoo3, and it did function just a while ago in another Amiga, so I am positive it still works.
Good tip that pcitool, I will give that a try! Thank you for all the great help, I will nag more here tomorrow after some well needed rest :}
Edit: did a search on aminet, you probably meant "pciscan" instead of "pcitool", right?

Did you run the P96Setup twice like it says in the instructions?
