Hello, where I can get MorphOS (Ambient) Icons? I like harddrive icons...where I can get them? ;)
thank you!
-
you can find some at http://www.morphzone.org/modules/mydownloads/ (http://www.morphzone.org/modules/mydownloads/)
-
It may be that those icons are not in download area as they come with MOS installation cd.. doesn't hurt to check anyway.
-
Thank you, but I knew that...that icons are for games...but I'm looking for harddrive icons...I was searching in google but there wasn't anything :(
-
As you won't be able to use them as they are with AmigaOS ATM (I presume you want to use it for AOS, as if you'd want to use it with MorphOS then you'd already have them :-)), I suggest the easiest way to cut them out from a screenshot and use those images.
MorphOS icons are RGBA icons, so they can easily be more than 256 colors and include an alpha channel as well, which is not supported by AmigaOS. (in case of most icons the only drawback will be the jiggy edges, but there may be semi-transparent icons as well which are impossible to reproduce)
You can find screenshots at the morphzone gallery, load them into a draw program, cut out the icon you wanted, reduce the colors, load it to an Amiga icon painter and save it. That's all :-)
-
If anyone wants to see any "MOS icon" on non-MOS machine, just rename
icon.info icon.png and load it to image processer/viewer
-
Thank you all for information ;)... Now, I'm going to play with MOS screenshots and Icons ;)

There are also loads of icons you can use from linux projects, for instance KDE.
I understand the MOS people also tend to like OSX-style icons, so how about some nice Aqua icons (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=5057)?

You mean like this (http://www.morphzone.org/modules/gallery/view_photo.php?full=1&set_albumName=ambient2k3&id=MorphOS)? :-)
Well, thanks for the link. I have downloaded them now! I really like the OSX appearance actually ...

@everyone
Don't forget, the icons shipped with MorphOS are copyright Genesi SARL, so copying, altering, etc beyond fair-use law is a big no-no.
-
Wonder how much the fine is for stealing a harddrive-icon from MorphOS? :lol:
-
@Hooligan
$100,000 by US copyright laws.
Not saying I approve of the laws, just saying that is what the law says. (I know, steal an icon, get the same penalty as stealing a movie, strange system we have here in the US)
-
Well we all know it wouldn't go to trial anyway. We all know US lawsystem is all f*cked but I REALLY hope you have a system where prosecutor decides whether the case goes to trial or not?
Enough nitpicking :)
-
is windows and macos icons also illegal to use then? ...
ok someone should sue the world for using icons then i think :)
nothing beats MwB icons :)
/sarcasm off

Hooligan_DCS hedged:

;-) Well, it depends on what you stole it for, doesn't it? If you've copied it to use on your own computer, trying the case wouldn't be worth it. If you include another's work in a product that you sell, that's a different matter.
:roll: Especially if you sell lots of 'em.
-
Whats the ongoing rate of PNG harddrive-icons in blackmarket at the moment? :-)
-
@hooligan
a half-penny.
-
;-) I was thinking more along the lines of using another operating system's icons in the creation of your own OS. A lawyer would argue that all of your sales were to misguided customers who believed they were buying the competition's product, and that all of your revenues belonged to the competitor.
