Title: DroidWars on aminet.
Post by: Im>bE on July 11, 2003, 12:24:58 AM

I just wondered if anybody plays
any of the versions,
and if you have comments or anything about it.

Because im not sure if I should
make more sequels unless anyone likes it
or wants it better. (??)

if you want a link:

I don't know if watchNplay does not work on ppc,
since I don't have ppc.
And also therefre I cannot think of a ppc fix,
(if that is required),
to be added in the future.

but if anyone know how to add a fix,
so that it will work regardless of a ppc processor in the system,
then pls tell me.

Not my cup of tea, but if you can, it would not hurt to port it to AROS at least.

Sounds like a cool game. But if you are going to continue developing it, then should really make it run on non-legacy hardware and port it to all the three OS distributions (MorphOS, OS4, and AROS) if you want people to play it in the future too. MorphOS and OS4 will both be able to run it (even in 68k) if it is independent of legacy hardware and uses the standard AmigaOS 3.1 API. AROS need a recompilation to x86 (or whatever the target HW is). You could also have a look at the Open Amiga (http://www.amiga.org/forums/showthread.php?t=44444) effort, that aims to set some common standards for future Amiga development.

V4 is much faster than V3,
and has many options
that were not available in V3.

V4 also has several different SIDE gametypes.

It doesn't work, it just crashes. I'm using WinUAE and OS3.9+BB2.

Am I meant to be running this in OS1.3 or something? What obsolete language is it written in :-) ?

Can you please fix it so that it is more system-legal?

Maybe if more people could play it successfully you might get more feedback?

>It doesn't work, it just crashes.

I know of an other prog too that doesn't work,
and just crashes.
Strangely, this prog is used by most pc users,
and even on the startup!

>I'm using WinUAE

then you need to report this problem to microsoft,
but since they are unable to help
you must report the error to the winUAE author(s)

Aminet Droidwars works on my 1260 aga 3.9 bb2 setup,
so if winUAE is an emulator,
then it should be able to... emulate it.

but this is impossible...

try to get Eminem to sing like Frank Sinatra
and you will see how hopeless it is to
'emulate' perfection.

Use Amiga hardware! its REALLY worth it!!
I don't think any amiga owner is sorry
for purchasing an amiga.

I have seen WinUAE in action,
and I got noxious... :p
Its a real sad emulator dude!
makes outsiders think amiga is buggy as hell.

>Maybe if more people could play it successfully you might get more feedback?

Thats like saying microsoft would get more money
if their updates worked...

Just because it works on one particular configuration doesn't mean it is system-legal. I note that many other users seem to have similar problems; not all of them are running UAE.

I can assure you that all the programs *I* write work successfully on real Amigas *AND* on emulators. If it is written properly it should work properly. The problem is not UAE, it is in fact your lame coding.

>The problem is not UAE, it is in fact your lame coding.

ofcourse,
but another problem is that the new amigas are leaving
the console support that made amiga great,
so that in 5 years it will have all the
compatibility problems that a normal buggy modular Windows installed pc has today.

no more floating games,
but a struggle for the newest hardware
just like on pc today.
so sad...

oh well... Amiga classic 4ever!! ;)
