Title: Wireless woes!
Post by: r6stu on October 23, 2007, 08:42:20 PM
I am having issues getting the miggy working online.

I just got one of these cards. (Linksys WPC11)
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...MEWN:IT&ih=006

Im trying to get on-line. I followed the guide elsewhere on another site in banes post, that works ok for wired network.

However when I try with the wireless card all I get is unable to resolve dns name errors.

Also when typing "startnet" I get an error saying the file is not executable.

Therefore I have had to install netconnect and use genesis this works fine for the wired.

Why would it tell me its not executable? I edited it in EditPad

Get information on the tool and make sure its executable? Or maybe it needs to be in your path....

You need to do "protect rweds startnet" to make it execute as a script. Also, check you have entered your router as the DNS server (or failing that try the DNS server provided by your ISP).

Can you ping inside your lan by IP addresses?  How about on the outside?  Could be as simple as a network routing problem/misconfiuration.

I got the same thing too, after installing the AmiTCP demo from AmiNet. Simply protect it as moto said, or pull a "execute amitcp:bin/startnet".

No cant ping anything. The link light on the card flashes, but not 100% it attached to my network lol.

If startnet didn't run, then your network interface is not up. That is why you can't communicate with anything (even on your own network). Use protect as above to correct this, or as others have mentioned prefix startnet with the "execute" command, and then try again.

You must enter "protect startnet rweds". First file then flags. "protect startnet +s" would also work.

In AmigaOS, you can get help for shell commands by entering ? as option. In this case "protect ?" would give you correct order of the arguments :)

Got it working! It seems very slow for transfers however. A webpage takes modem speed to appear. wired seems ok. :-?

Had to use miamiDX in the end.
