Well I've just rehashed my Eyetech mk3 tower so that I can fit a busboard in it and now my busboard is being a git.
I have an a1200 (1.d4 with timing fix) powerflyer and a blizzard 030 board, 3.1 roms.
Everything is fine when I run the above setup alone. But when I remove the accelerator and fit my MicroniK 6860 rev 5.43 busboard all I get is a red screen on bootup (I believe this means bad rom?) and the power LED flashes on and off a few times before it reboots again and does the same. If I install both the bussboard and my blizzard card all I get is a black screen when I power up.
Does anybody know why this is? or does anybody have this busboard running?
The busboard has an 8 pin connector on it which I believe is for power, but I am led to believe that this is not needed if I'm getting my power form the Eyetech PSU. Is this correct?
Uh this is beginning to annoy me now.

The red screen does indeed mean a ROM error.
AFAIK (according to the Z4 Tower instructions) the power for the motherboard should be put into the busboard if you have one and NOT the A1200 mobo itself. This is possibly why you get the black screen when the accel is plugged in - the power isn't in the right place.
I don't know if this will be the same for your busboard though.

all power is supplied via the bussboard...dont use an extra psu etc...just use a ATX or AT psu to supply the whole amiga ..
or else u might end up frying your setup ...
just read the manual and be 100% aware of what u are doing (atleast on the power side...)

(i bought the same back some years but i replaced it with an mediator due to many reasons, but the main one was SPEED..)

I'm already using the AT PSU to power the a1200, malthought I'm doing this thropugh the floppy port and then supplying 0v through the original a1200 power jack.
@ lempkee Where did you get a conector form to attatch to the one on the busboard? its not AT or ATX.
I already had that manual you lot are looking at, but the power connector in the diagram is upside down compared to mine and it's a slightly different board, so I'd like to check up on the pinouts. Secondly that same manual also says its okay to power the board off of the a1200 mobo.
I'll need to verify these pinouts and find a power connector to wire up.

Are you sure it's not just a half AT connector? The Elbox Z3 A4000 bussboard I got uses such a thing anyway.

The Micronik power connector is a custom built one. I visited two computer shops and one hobbyist electronics shop and none had ever seen a connector like it before.
I've been getting red screens on my previously-working Micronik 1200 setup lately, and I believe it's because the power connector is damaged. A little fiddling with the power cable clears it right up. You're probably going to have to build an adaptor, so make sure all the connections are secure.
Power pinouts from another source: The video adapter slot should be above-right from this connector. This is from the manual that shipped with a 5.44 board, so it's probably just like yours.

*EDIT* The connector was designed for use only with the Micronik power supply. You could probably find one, but they're only 200W. More powerful ones are rumored to exist, but I've never seen one.

each of the two AT connectors have 6 connections, and this is an 8 pin connector.

Let's see... 2 inactive PCI, 2 ISA, 5 Zorro, 1 Video, no SIMM slots... yep. That's it!
As for the video enabler slot location, I was looking at the board from a different angle (top down, cards would be pointing up). In this picture, the LEFTMOST 3 pins should be the GND pins.

I get red screens on boot if my accelerator card isn't seated properly. Whether it's a power flow or data flow problem I don't know, but I suspect the power thing. Try wiggling things - that works for me.

I built a custom power connector for the Micronik A1200 busboard from two old AT power connectors (you know, the six pin kind). It appears that they can be cut down to the desired length with a sharp knife, and they fit snugly in the connector both ways. You'll have a two-part connector but who cares..
Also, I have some good news for anyone building this connector. Plugging it the wrong way does not seem to damage your setup (it just won't boot). Yeah, I tried it :-D

Hmm... it's been too many years to remember correctly, but I had MicroniK 6860 rev 4.02 busboard and it had to be fixed for some Blizzard accelerator.. b1230-IV or b1260.. might have been b1260 though :) At least it didn't work when I just inserted the busboard to otherwise working system. I sent it to local dealer and they fixed it there, don't know better what they did, but after that it worked fine :)
Anyway I have used the busboard fine with powersupply through a1200 mobo's connector (with pc psu). Never had power to the busboard's connector... and I had around 4 zorro cards simultaneously and lots of other stuff too.

Hey, my Micronik Z2 is rev 4.15 and it does not work when my BPPC is attached. I bought an X-surf 2 and now I can't use it with my BPPC unless I replace my zorro board.. what a bummer. I contacted Jens Schoenfeld about this, and he immediately fingered my Craptronik Z2 busboard as the culprit :-)
It would be really cool to know what the fix for the board was. Who was the local dealer who operated on the board? Are they still in business?

Well, that or someone sells me a more compatible busboard. You know you want to.
