Title: How can i scan the scsi.device for units?
Post by: pyrre on October 18, 2007, 02:31:30 PM
Assuming the cd-rom works, and is set correct on the cable.
HD being master and cd-rom being slave...
The CD0 and CD0.info does not mount the cd-rom,

DEVICE=scsi.device
UNIT=1
ACTIVATE=1
DONOTWAIT

others that that the mountlist is the standard os 3.9 file...
I need to get the cd-rom working before i can install os 3.9 from scratch...

I always just use AsimCDFS, it got a scan included.. Works fine.

You also have to specify a filesystem as a tooltype.

FILESYSTEM=L:AmiCDFS

or CacheCDFS, or AllegroCDFS, or whatever..

The IDE scsi.device in the 3.1 ROM can't handle ATAPI CD drives. In other words, CD drives on the internal IDE port won't work. IDEFix or AsimCDFS have new software drivers that can correct this, so get one of them.

Assuming that you have access to the other files of OS 3.9, too, just copy "AmigaOS ROM Update" to Devs: and "SetPatch" to C: and reboot. After that scsi.device should see the CD-ROM drive.

Or use the computer you use to read the CD to create an emergecny disk.

Hi,

Use "Find Device" which is part of the IDEFix97 software on Aminet.

See http://aminet.net/search?query=IDEFix97

Find Device scans for SCSI as well as IDE devices.

It identifies exec device  Unit | Vendor | Product | Revision

Kind Regards, Michael
