Title: Dopus 4 issues.
Post by: r6stu on October 14, 2007, 09:08:05 PM
Where does it look for the config opus file?

each time I try to run "Config" from the menu, all I get is an error saying it cannot find the module ConfigOpus.

I can run it manually but I am using blueopus config and would like to edit that. I can only seem to edit the basic default config.

The ConfigOpus file should be in your C directory if you're running from a hard drive.

That's where it is on my setup anyway... :-)

C directory will probably work, since it is in the path, however, mine is in /modules.

Hi

I am guessing you have something like BlueOpus.CFG. The clue is in the CFG file which is what you need to save and edit. There is also a CLA and HLP file. This CFG file resides in your S drawer of your DOPUS folder. If you always have SnoopDOS on your Workbench ( get it from Aminet ) when you run any application you can see just what happens when you run something. You can also see what fails. I have numerous configs for DOPUS. The TOOLTYPE however is the ConfigOPUS tool and this is a program tool not to be confused with the Configuration. Also, have you set an ASSIGN for the location of your DOPus drawer. Try getting a good text editor like CED for editing.

If you look in the S drawer anything with HLP is a HELP file and with DOPus you can read them and they explain the functions of the Config Tool and various file types and how to edit.

DOPus 4 is a magic tool, but takes a bit of getting use to. Save your configs first, in the same drawer before you edit. And also back up the older version. The one that DOPus uses is... DirectoryOpus.CFG. You can also load CFG files by the way. Do it all through DOPUS.

Shout if you need any help. By the way, there was a magic tutorial in Amiga Format for DOpus. I think they are all online somewhere.

PS There is a great little tool you can get called the DOPus companion. If you interogate all the tooltypes and
filetypes created through another config you will start to undertstand more. There are many configs on Aminet.
