Title: Amiga 4000T and A2301 Genlock....
Post by: amiga_3k on October 08, 2007, 08:39:12 PM
Okay... Just wondering... Is it possible to put a Commodore A2301 Genlock into an A4000T and use the genlock's composite-out on the television? Or, in other words, is the A2301 genlock compatible with the A4000T? (it's a revision 4)

Using AGA color modes might present a problem, but otherwise I think it'll be fine.

Hmmm... so I should atleast see the early-startup appear?

An A2301 works fine in an A4000, with one caveat (mention in an addendum to the A4000 manual): You must supply the A2301 with a video input when you start the computer. In other words, a video or something similar must be connected to the input on the A2301 when you boot.

In other words: If you just want composite out, an A520 modulator is a much better option.

@iggy_drougge:

Hmmm... there goes my 'easy' solution. That leaves me no option but heating-up the soldering iron and make me a RGB to SCART cable. The A520 I have does nothing but occupying the RGB-slot when connected. (in other words: it's broken)

A520 can be repaired very easily, its just usually blown one transistor, in worse case pal encoder. As obsolete part can be bought cheaply (0.7€)

@Chain:

Do you happen to know which transistor is the most suspectible?
