Hey...
I was thinking (yeah yeah I know...) earlier and I think I've come up with a good idea! Is the Source Code of Settlers 1 available for the Amiga yet? Is there a reasonable chance of obtaining it if it isnt yet? I cant see Bluebtye getting many more sales can you?
Well what about an AmigaOS4 native version of settlers?
Ah I can see it now...not many changes to the orginal - just :
PPC Native (well I know it probably hits the Classic hardware quite hard...but could be re-worked?)
Re-worked more modern front end :) (Anybody care to do a mock up? Thats bound to generate interest!)
Larger levels (play against more opponents in larger levels...bliss!)
And most importantly - Network play (Null modem..INTERNET?) - this could be the killer feature to launch OS4. I personally believe the graphics are fine... and perfect for network play!)
Any other ideas??
I've gonna have a :pint: and see what you guys think!

settlers 2 is a better bet.... settlers 3 was just ok...settlers 4 sucKeD!
settlers 1 was the best... but limited on networking + net play

I was playing settlers only the other day.

Since Settlers is ported to x86 there should not be a problem to port it to ppc as well. They must have codet it pretty machine independent. I have not seen Settlers 2-4 on Amiga so they might have changed the codebase to something more specific to x86 after version 1. The only thing I know is that my mother would not play any other game that Settlers.
Well, she played Impossible mission on C64 and Impossible mission 2 and tetris on my A500 almost 10 yrs ago. But otherwise, only settlers after that (1 & 3 is still boxed and in my mothers possesion). After she got tired of Settlers 3 she stopped playing computer games. I have tried with other rts games, but no go.
