error appears when trying to copy/move to HD2.
Partitian is about 1.5 gb with FFS
it is 86% full
update--Just reset Ami and now the error pops up while booting and WB fails to load at all

I have had that error but it resolved itself. If you boot with no startup-sequence, can you access the files on the partition through the CLI?

No Im getting a NonDos error when I try to access it. All other partitions work though
-
You might consider using SFSSalv on the partition.

considered but I cant seem to find it on aminet :-o

It's in the SFS archive (http://aminet.net/package/disk/misc/SFS).

which SFS version? AOS version? used .device? SFS partition size?

Well after about 6 hours it seems the problems gone away.
I didnt manage to use sfssalve because I couldnt get it on my Amiga because the error was making my Amiga run badly so I couldnt network to my PC so I tried disksalve and ended up with an unitialised drive.
So I formatted it with a slow format. Then Ive spent the remaining hours waiting for everything to copy back over to it. Its now about 95% full with no error messages so Im confident things are working now
Thanks for the advice

You should now put SFSSalv on your hard disk, and also keep a copy on a floppy disk. That way if you have a similar problem in the future you will hopefully be able to repair it without having to format the partition.
