Hi,
I just built up my first A1200: Blizzard 030 50Mhz 32Mb Ram, Micronik SD, CF 4GB with ClassicWB + tons of WHDLoad games.
I took it into work to show some of my mates and the response was amazing. Even the guys who had never heard of an Amiga before (they were pretty rare in South Africa) were asking for all the old arcade classics and were getting into the joystick action :-) The boot-to-graphical-desktop in 15 seconds caused quite a few jaws to drop. There were dark mutterings about windows sucking b***s in the background.
What a great machine!
The first time I saw an Amiga it was an A500, I think I was about 12 or so and I've wanted one ever since. Next up is my uber tricked out A1200 desktop with 40GB HD, CD, Blizzard 603e 060, 210Mhz, BVision card, 120W PSU (internal), Subway USB, SD/FF and other bits (we're going to need fans, lots of fans...).
This machine is going to take a long time to build.
Anyway enough of my ramblings, I just thought I'd share my experiences.

I agree it's a great machine! :-) and brilliant marketing the Amiga!

Excellent work, and what is better, you enjoyed it and brought some fun to others.
It just goes to show that there may be a market for a modern sleek responsive OS with some decent software support. Just a shame we are unlikely to see it.

Very cool!
The Amiga can make any real geek in the mood
take a second look.. The fact the WB loads in 15 seconds
should be an indicator the (( DESKTOP OS )) on other systems
should be put on a diet......... LoL

Actually wb 3.1 boots up in much less than 15secs unless you have some third party addons installed, which makes it even more impressing.

Yep, if I recall correctly around 2003 when I had my unexpanded 1200 setup with a 1Gb HD, Workbench loaded in roughly 4 seconds :-D

Even better, when you turn it off, it actually...turns off. :) As opposed to "Please wait whilst ***doze wipes its...", and then shuts down.

"What a great machine."
This is why most of us are here, not entirely sure about the remainder. Grin.
