Holy cow... quick run out and buy a lottery ticket too, it must be one heck of a lucky day.
Any chance you'd share how you got such a good deal?
-
I just asked! That's the coolest part... just scour your local magazines and place ads in the free ones.. thats all I did.. and they were most happy for me to come and get it......amazing.
-
oh man, almost sounds too easy. I assumed it involved your soul and some sort of deal with the devil ;-)
-
WTF?
You lucky sob. What you going to do with it?
Check what's in it as well, you never know it may have some tasty expansions in there.
-
Just keep looking everyday.. most free circulations have a website now.. at least here in California.. I look 3 or 4 times a day! Got a free 2000, and now a 4000. Plus a guy was giving away a carload (i kid you not, i barely had room to drive my car) full of Amiga software, books and hardware.. :)
-
You are the luckiest person I know!
A400's (especially the rare A400T) have been going for $1000-$2000 on Ebay recently.
Wish I had an A4000 (especially an A4000T in my eyes the best Amiga ever)
-
I got 1 free 1200 with a mass of fully boxed thought after games plus a nother 1200 9now sold) for £1 with loads of joysticks and floppys. was offerd 2 500's and 1 600 for free with an apsolute mass of disks but I had to give the guy £10 for his troubles. :) Good ey? Still not a 4000. :(
-
Yea!!! I forgot how much i've paid for my Amigas..I got an A1200 for £10 including a box of floppies and some boxed software... the best deal i've ever had was a Power Tower A1200...$350USD and it had:
Blizzard PowerpC
Blizzvision
Repulse
1.76MB Floppy
Squirrel SCSI
ZiV Busboard..
Man that was the most fun I had until the turbo cards started to die off in it... :-?
-
Congratulations ! ! ! :pint:
I saw advert in my local paper for an A1200. But when I got there it was actually a boxed bog standard A1500 running at a whopping 7Mhz. I glady handed over the £10 for it and boxes and boxes of stuff. I'll have to get it out of the loft and have a play with it some time :-)
Another time I saw an A2000 adverstised for £40. To my amazement when I got there it was an 030 on 3.1 ROMS and had a Picasso II in it. This was my first ever graphics card and I've had the Picasso II running in my main A4000 ever since 8-)

@pan1k
Damn you must be lucky! the best luck i had was a free A1200 (standard ks 3.0 )
The worst luck i had 2 days ago, i was looking for Z IV board (PSU fried my old one) some guy had one brand new, never used and he wanted 175,- Euro for it, that was including Fast ATA controller....,
-
You can get the a lot cheaper than that! I think I paid 40 euros for mine!
(If you've not already bought it) Contact amigakit and ask if they have any in stock which don't show on their website. They sometimes have things like that, it's always worth asking :)
Although the FastATA controller is quite nice.. was gunna buy one of them for myself in a few months for my 1200ZIV monster machine.. (Already had a Mediator ZIV in it)

You're a lucky SOB, haha! Congrats! :-D

@BinoX
Did not buy it, way over the top, i was willing to pay something like 75,- euro or a bit more maybe.
But thx i'll contact Amigakit never hurts to try indeed.

Man I want free Amiga stuff :-D

I have had suck luck before.
Was able to acquire 3 Amiga 4000D systems for a whopping 100 euro. 1 was maxed out with a Cyberstorm mk 2 with 68060 and SCSI + Retina Z3 and Tocatta.
Recently I managed to acquire for 30 euro a Picasso 2 and 4 with Concierto and Pablo and a Prometheus PCI bus board. With some other bits and bobs.
Then I had luck with acquiring some Amiga 1200 systems with a Blizzard 1230-mk4 in it with co-processor for a whopping 50 euro a piece.
Also payed 45 euro once for a BlizzardPPC which was defective and I managed to repair it.
Sometimes you have luck and meet a person that doesn't want the hardware to end up in the hands of dealers/sellers and don't want a {bleep} load of money for it. They just want the hardware to end up with a person that actually uses it.
-
So true. The guy who sold me the power tower won an A1 at a show.. said he didnt need the power tower anymore and was thrilled that I was going to use it and not sell it..
Awesome..! I wish I could find a Picasso IV!
-
lucky as a useless cuckoo on a motorbike, ehh?...

Hey, that happened to me, too, last year! I had to pick it up in the Los Angeles area, 4 hours away. It was an A4000 with a '40 running at 40 mhz.
