Title: What the heck is up with ADF programs ?????
Post by: IOWASURFER on September 28, 2007, 03:29:23 AM
Grrrrrr..

Ok I have down loaded at least 6 ADF programs from AMINET
and none of them zero zlich nada have allowed me to
get the job done.. and transfer adf's from HD to DF0/DF1...

I have an Amiga 2000HD 1mb 16mb fast wb 3.9
which i have loaded up with ADF files
and now i am trying to simply unpack those adf files
onto one of my disk drives... to use..

When I run the ADF programs they look like they are writing and working they show progress on the meters I see the disk drive lights working...away...to dfo or df1 but when the gui's stop and i go to check the disks nothing (((( 0 )))) gets written to the disks  Argggggghhhhhhhh

what the heck is going on
Seems like a cruel joke..

Damn all i want to do is play wings

LOL

Joe..

Which ADF files are you writing to disk? If they are games then they may be non standard disk formats, which can't be read under Workbench.

You might have to eject and reinsert the disk for its contents to be reported correctly.

Have you tried ADFBLitzer?

It has a GUI interface and works really well for me.
I just used to to MOve some ADF's to disk tonight.

If it is writing 800k ADF's to a high density drive,
make sure you cover the high density hole on the disk
with some tape, othe wise the drive will think it's
a high density disk, and have problems reading it.

I agree with Andrewbell: when you are writing games to disk, they will most likely be not readable from Workbench. When you want to use the program, restart your Amiga and boot from the disk you have just unpacked the ADF-file from.

Please remove that link. It's an illegal copy of the game, which is against the posting guidelines of this site.

I am wondering if you are trying to unadf files to a high density (HD) floppy disk - try with a DSDD disk.

It sounds like you are reading the disk instead of writing it.

Try mounting the images as a virtual floppy drive.  If you can't see any content there, the disks are either "trackdisks" (i.e. a filesystem only the game can read) or the ADF's are broken.

Alternative: Try viewing the contents of the said ADF in ADFOpus (http://adfopus.sourceforge.net/) (for Windows).  Do you see any files there?

I use ADFBlitzer as well and can recomend it.
I do format the disks in workbench first though just in case any are duff. ADFBlitzer will not tell you of errors.

Just like others have said ADFBlitzer is the best one to use imo.
