I read the following this morning on the side of a bottle of milk:
Allergy advice: contains milk
On the packet for some pasta sauce this evening I found an equally absurd warning:
Warning: pot may become hot through heating
Anyone else find these warnings ridiculous?

There have been a couple of these kinds of threads before on Aorg.
Of course it's ridiculous.
I mean, it's enough to state the ingredients, isn't it?
(In this case probably pasteurised, homogenized cowmilk)

they dont put the warning on there becuase they think people are stupid. they put it on there so that people are careful and think when preparing food so that a person who is allergic doesnt accidentally get milk. it is mostly for legal reasons though.
someone sues they can say there is a warning. same with the pot. of course people have sued fast food places for hot coffee even when there was a warning.
i had a bag of hard candy the other day that said it was produced in a plant that handles peanuts and tree nut, which would be good to know if i was really allergic. maybe its just easier to have everyone place all possible warnings

If there is potential for the product to have come in to contact with ingredients that it does not actually contain, and to which somebody may have an allergic reaction, then I think the warning is warranted. But warning somebody that a product contains itself is just stupid, as is warning people that hot things are hot.
Any court which entertains cases like this is clearly run by idiots. And anyone who has an allergy to dairy and drinks milk not realising it contains milk deserves to have an allergic reaction. Hopefully anaphylaxis will destroy their reproductive organs before they have the chance to perpetuate their Stupid Genes.

Tell me about it, its obsurd.
If your allergic to milk... um speaks for its self.
I had a packet of Peanuts the other day, said on the back
"Warning - MAY contain nuts"
I should hope so!!!

At the bottom of the steps which take lead down to/up from the platform at Perry Bar train station is a sign which reads "Beware of steps". Why? What are the steps going to do? Spontaneously reconfigure in to a slope, causing you to plummet to the bottom and be deposited in to a pit of fire or a bed of nails?
The sign would more accurately read "Beware of stupidity and clumsiness".

I've just had a thought. Maybe "Beware of Steps" refers to these steps:

in which case I think the warning is justified!

Yeah, you get it nicely banked and roaring away and all of a sudden *poke* *poke* some little bugger has knocked it all over and it's a smoking mess, smothered the damn thing. Then you gotta get the tongs and stack it all back up again and fan it back to life.... Or it throws it's sisters doll on there and stinks the place out...
