Hi all,
With the imminant release of OS4 for the Classic Amiga series, it has become quite apparent that there is a demand of PPC Cards for Both A4000/A3000's and the A1200.
I know there are a few people who have hoarded these cards in the past and probably still have them.
So please, if your PPC equipped Amiga is no longer being used, or you have a PPC card lying in a corner without a home, consider selling it on. There is a demand for these.
You can help in increasing the OS4 userbase, plus being a bit richer in the process.
IF YOU'RE NOT USING IT. SELL IT!
Thanks.
-
And sell me one for a 4000 cheap
-
Or just give me one.
Sad thing: back when I had some extra cash I watched so many Blizzard PPC for the 1200 come and go as I was holding out for a CyberStorm for my 4000.
Then I later realized that 1) CyberStorms are NOT easy to come by and are fought over like caribou carcasses in the savannah, and 2) upgrading the 1200 with a Blizzard PPC and CyberVision would probably be way cooler than a 4000D.
Then the Blizzard PPC well dried up. Now the gates are opening a little and the cash flow is tight. It's either food or Amiga stuff... time for a diet!

Define imminent.

For the same price of a second hand Blizzard PPC, you will be able to buy a faster brand new Shark.
So why bother?

-
This is true they must be getting released soon if OS4 is out for classic soon.
   :horse: :horse: :horse: :horse: :headwall: :headwall: :headwall: :headwall: :headwall:

Apparently at the recent Pianeta Amiga Show there were retail "boxes" of OS 4 for Classic but no formal announcement.
We're Amigans we should know by now not to get excited about a bit of packaging. From past experience that could mean it won't be out for another year at least

Political shenanigans methinks :-o

Easy; in Amigadom it's the patented phrase, "Two More Weeks"

I'm considering selling my 060/233mhz Cyberstorm PPC for A4k since I have a peg2 with morphos, which is all I really have use for. But I also kinda wanna keep it to run some software on the Amiga, even if I won't be interested in OS4.0. I'll consider offers if anyone wants to buy it, but it'll probably have to be convincing hehe, sorry.

*IF* it ever comes about it'll be something halfway between a travesty and a miracle :P I've long since lost my rag with OS 4 anyway. I'll stick to 3.9 on classics (without the PPC too) - OS 4 offers no performance or feature advantage on Classic Amigas over 3.9, only possible advantage I have heard is that development is slightly easier on OS 4, but is that actually right?
I know there are a few people who have hoarded these cards in the past and probably still have them.
Wasn' t me guv - wouldn't give a 1200 BPPC card house room after the experience me and a fellow LAGite had getting his to work right, and even when it dod work it was about as impressive as watching paint dry. Meanwhile, my 4000 is quite happy with it's CS060.

Great, that's all we need, more encouragement to indulge in blatant profiteering from Amiga parts. If you want to help the OS 4 community and aren't using your PPC card why not lend or donate it instead. I'm not scrounging either - I don't want one thanks :)
-
On the other side, Hyperion have always released every announced update of OS4 and its SDK for the A1... okay, the latest SDK is late :-)
Regarding the differences between OS3.9 and 4, has anybody compiled a list of them? Excluding the possibility to use any of the 1558 archives that are ATM online on os4depot, of course. And yes, there are programs there that aren't available for 68k Amigas.

I guess there will be quite a few people selling ppc cards on ebay when 0s4 is released..
Lots cashing in due to the hordes of users wanting os4.
lots selling once they have tried os4 and decide its not what they expected.
than probs more selling to get a sharkppc (vapour ahem)
-
My A1200/mediator/ppc 240mhz box is collecting dust until OS4 gets out. Has anyone contacted elbox about the shark ppc card? any updates or upcoming demos? Or is it just vapor now?
-
It was always vapour

Hi
So let me get this straight. Your suggestion is that cus there is no hardware support for an OS that turned its back on the classic Amiga user, you expect all those classic Amiga users to now gift their kit to users of this fictional OS ... for what ? Give me a break. You can have your OS4... I'll stay commando.

PS: Totally unrelated. I have a RISCStation here. Its a PC mini tower with PC keyboard, PC mouse, CD Player etc etc, network card, connected to a PC monitor running RISC OS 4. This has grown from the Acorn camp. Works a dream. No real point... Well that's unless you reflect on the Amiga saga.

@Mikey C
Any news on whether my GVP 1208 (http://www.amiga-hardware.com/showhardware.cgi?HARDID=1184) can be flashed to run OS4?? If so, I might have one for sale... at the "right price" that is. :p

I don't know about anyone else but I need to keep my spare cyberstorms and Blizzards for a rainy day.

@JJ
Er, you still laughing?

I hope OS4 classic happens, but to be fair all we have today is another announcement. Amiga Inc could try to interfer with the release using legal proceedings through the on going court case. Ask him again on Dec 1st. :-)

Just out of curiosity, does anyone one if OS4 will support Blizzard PPC? In the past it didnt. CSPPC or A-One only.
-
Apparently BPPC is supported - See post 17 - http://amigaworld.net/modules/news/article.php?storyid=4014
-
I need to wait for more two weeks?
I have an A500 + A501 ready to run OS4 here!
-
Er, you still laughing?
I'll still be laughing until I touch a physical copy of OS4 Classic for PPC (real) Amigas. I have to say Hyperion *usually* deliver once they've given a date but I'm not holding my breath for a moment. C'mon. ACK gave us a date, a price and a spec on the new hardware and still gave us jack-all. Many Amiga products have got this far and no further...
-
I recommend that people should sell ppc cards for around £500 each, you know someone will pay that.
