How come there are a lot of "new" CD32 systems available on ebay and other locations all of a sudden?
-
There were rumors of vast stocks of unsold CD32s as Commodore was entering liquidation. Perhaps they've finally made their way to the hands of sellers...

They also surfaced early last year. I bought one, brand new in box sitting in a warehouse since production (at least, that's the story they're sticking to.)
The CD-ROM drive is flakey, but I understand there was a run of them with that problem.

Flakey? In what way?

Doesn't always want to read CDs. I have another unit that reads them just fine.

The cd-rom unit can be replaced. (http://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=31953) The cost may be prohibitive though.

Thanks. I'll look into it. The price isn't all that bad, but I haven't really been bothered since I have another working unit. I might just so I can have a pristine unit in working order.
