I have an Amiga 1200 with a Netgear wireless NIC and an MBX1200 memory expansion unit.
I recently upgraded the memory on the MBX from 4 MB to 8 MB (reported as working fine), but now I can't seem to get online anymore. Easynet reports "add net default: gateway 192.168.1.1: Network is unreachable" when it tries to connect. Also, the green status light on the wireless card doesn't come on anymore when I turn the machine on unless I pull the card out then plug it back in while the computer is on.
I wanted to know if there was a known issue with a full 8 MB expansion and PCMCIA cards by any chance before I put more wear and tear on the old hardware experimenting with it.
Thanks!

Yes, it's a known issue. The network card and the second half of the 8MB map to the same memory location. If you want more than 4MB and a network card, you need to install an accelerator which maps it's memory outside this range (I believe, but the guru's here will correct me if I'm wrong, that all 030 accelerators do this)

Some very old early 030 accelerators didn't do it, but most do. You should check amiga hardware database before buying. Maximum memory of 8MB usually means that the board is not compatible with PCMCIA (with the full 8MB config).

Well darn, that sucks. Thanks for the fast answers though.
Do the 1230 accelerators require a fan? Can you still close the trapdoor at the bottom of the case? Any compatibility problems?

Some 030 accel can run hot (specially 50MHz ones), but there is no problem @ all.
You can also close the trapdoor, indeed.
