Post by: orange on September 13, 2007, 10:02:54 PM
Does A1200 PPC card work at all without BVision and also without any RAM in slots?

the BPPC can work without the bvision, this is 100000000% certain, the bvision is just an extra upgrade hardware, not part of the bppc.

as for the ram, I am pretty sure you need some, even 8MB would be enough...

The Blizzard PPC HAS to have some RAM in it... I think the minimum is 4MB, but I can't say for sure what the minimum is...

I have started my BPPC without any ram at all.
The computer showed the early startupscreen. bot it did NOT boot WB. It did boot with no startup-sequence.

The BPPC needs at least four MB ram. if i remember the manual correct.

CyberstormMK3s and PPCs need 8MB to operate. Blizzards are probably similar.

Manuals are available in english, too: http://phase5.a1k.org/index.php?id=2

AFAIK the RAM on the board is only needed for the PPC. The 68k should work without RAM. However, an accelerator without RAM does not accelerate. Chip-RAM access is as slow as with the 68020.
