Title: My A3000 won't boot anymore!
Post by: sdyates on September 13, 2007, 02:20:50 AM
She sounds normal, I hear the drive make a noise now and then, but it does not boot. I cannot even get it to boot off a floppy or even recognise it is there.

The screen flickers a little at first, but there is no colour.

Holding down both mouse buttons does nothing.

I had this problem a few weeks back and then it booted again. Now It won't again -- the problem appeared intermittent, but now I can't get it to boot.

Any ideas???

Open her up and press down on all the socketed chips - chances are you'll hear them "crack", close up, start up and all should be well.

Over time the chips will work themselves out of their sockets, you might also want to consider at some point (assuming the above works) cleaning the contacts  of the chips with some white spirit and a cotton bud or similar.

Check for a leaking battery and acid damage to close by chips

if the battery is not leaking, remove and replace with a remote location battery and wires to the motherboard

plenty of posts here in the forums to search for about A3000 battery problems and repairs
