Hi guys i don't have much luck in resolving problems on here, but here goes Amiga 1200 (not tower)8mb ram expansion (disabled 4mb for pcmcia issue). My problem is that when i use the cd32 emulator disk created by either idefix or power cd rom software i get cd0:is not mounted, cannot open "atapi.device"unit 3 arghh but the drive works in Workbench perfectly and is mounted? please help with this issue thanks.
abit more info the cd drive is a ibm cdrm00201 & if i try scsi mounter/mount i get error:invalid rigid disk block but as i say the drive works and reads cd's.

I used to use the idefix cd32 emulation and it worked really well. Can't use it now as I have a Mediator. :(
Anyway, are you running the emulation from a floppy or your hard drive?
I put it on my hard drive bit used to fire it up manually by running a little script as I didn`t want it altering my startup-sequence. Where ever you are running it from, you need to configure it for your system, don't you?
-
how do i run cd32 emulation from workbench as this may be easier as drive is mounted in Workbench.
-
also wouldn't the cd32 boot disk mount the scsi drive, as when i used a ide cdrom drive on an Amiga tower i owned the cd32 bootdisk worked straight away & booted the cd32 cd rom it seems scsi is not as straight forward as ide on the Amiga?.

i just hope this topic will be resolved as it's driving me mad i just want to play a simple cd game compilation :-?

I don't think you can run it from workbench as various things will have been run that will prevent the emulation from working - setpach etc. I used to run my "32" script by booting to cli and running it from there.
It might be worth your while making a backup of your startup-sequence now, and then installing the software to your hardrive from scratch.

any ideas on the commands in the script?,i booted with no startup-sequence managed to mount the cd drive with mount cd0: command,so i need to add these commands to a boot disc before it loads anything else .

Sorry, it is an OT question but always related to the Squirrel interface.
Could you check if your A1200s recognize it in the Early Startup Menu?
I've recently got one of these interfaces but is seems not working...
Thank you!
Alex

i checked the bios & it doesn't detect it as another device, but if i do the mount command it does work and works fine in Workbench and is always found via ide fix etc. But can't seem to boot a cd32 game disc as it's saying drive not mounted weird.

does any body know on here if a Squirrel device is detected in the bios as a drive label as i have disconnected it and reconnected it and the bios lists the same devices.

When you turn on your Amiga, does it send a signal to the external SCSI peripherals? I mean, usually when the computer starts, the CD-ROM light blinks for a few seconds because it get a signal... but it does not happens with my Squirrel.
I'm trying to understand if it is defective or not...
-
yes my drive light comes on just after you switch the Amiga on.
-
have you checked the power supply going to your cdrom drive.

Yes, the cdrom unit is 100% ok... but I can't say the same for the Squirrel :(

You've got the wrong device name set in the CD0 mountlist.
It should be 'squirrelscsi.device'.
Since Workbench can see it, just copy the mountlist to DEVS:DOSDrivers/ on the CD32 boot floppy, and check that squirrelscsi.device is in DEVS: on the floppy too.

Hi thanks for your help but how do i change the device name just rename cd0 to squirrelscsi.device? and were would i find the mount list sorry i haven't used an Amiga for 15 years.
-
ok i reinstalled the scsi squirrel software, and i now have squirrelscsi.device in dosdrivers have also copied to boot disk but still can't boot from cd not mounted :pissed:

click on the CDO icon in dev/drivers drawer
from the pulldown menu click information
this will open up the cdo icon
in the tool type where it says DEVICE=squirrelscsi.device
UNIT=0 change this UNIT=2 OR 3
SAVE and exit
click again on the CD0 from the pulldown menu
click rename change this to CD2 OR CD3
this corrosponds to your scsi device unit No 2 or 3
then double click your new CD2 OR CD3 icon to mount it
reboot with your scsi cd switched ON
