Title: Workbench 1.3 Floppy Set needed
Post by: Everblue on August 31, 2007, 10:45:43 AM
I decided to get my Amiga 500 out of the attic and play around a bit with Amiga forever. Unfortunately my Workbench 1.3 is dead, kaputt, RIP. This is needed to be any use with Amiga Forever. I have looked on ebay but I there is none :(

Can someone perhaps direct me where I can get one?

Pretty please :)

Great, thanks. I see that they are located in the US. Would US versions of Workbench work fine on a PAL Amiga though?

Sorry, I dont know about Pal. But do you have any disk that boots to cli? The command line. If you have any disk that boots.
you could try pressing CTRL-D to get to cli then follow instruction on amigaforever to make AEexplorer.

I have to do some changes in the serial configuration :( . How would I do that without workbench.

Any one in EU can help me out? I could paypal some £ for the money and postage. I'm in Malta.

Thanks!

Thanks for the link...

Method A: with the TYPE command

Check that the serial settings are the same on both machines (e.g. 19200,8,N,1,RTS/CTS) PC: Properties ADF Sender Terminal, Amiga: Workbench-Preferences-Serial.

The TYPE command must be from Workbench 1.3 or older if you want to transfer a binary file like transdisk. Note: In the case of TYPE from Workbench 2.05 and higher ONLY text files are handled correctly.

You should use a copy of your Workbench disk.

I'm pwn3d :(

Update... on that link you gave me:

"If you want to change the serial settings you have to start preferences on the Amiga Workbench or properties within ADF Sender Terminal on the PC."

So theoretically I could change Amiga serial preferences FROM PC, or I got it wrong?

You cannot change Amiga's serial settings from a PC.

Say where you're based and someone might just send you a copy of the necessary disks.

Don't you have WB 1.3 on the AmigaForever CD?

On my CD all versions from 1.0 up to 3.x are included...

You can use any WorkBench disks regardless of PAL/NTSC. They contain software for both I believe. Not 100% sure about 1.3, but 2.0+ do. Ask the seller. OldSoftware.com is likely to have several versions.

If you get a disk image from the net or Amiga Forever, and don't have another Amiga with a CDROM or ethernet, itll be quite hard getting the image to an Amiga floppy. I'd recommend buying a set online such as at that link, ebay, perhaps AmigaKit.com (in England)... or maybe someone here can send you a set.
