Title: Amiga Center did it!!
Post by: amesie2 on August 30, 2007, 09:03:26 PM
I sent a dead CSMKIII to JJ about 3 weeks ago for him to look at. I think he received it in 3 days from the US and contacted me after he started looking it over. JJ found some bad traces along with some bad joints that needed to be soldered. The firmware too was messed up and needed to be reflashed I think. The cost for repair with shipping was $280.00 which is reasonable since I had gotten a deal on the card from Ebay which came with several other various cards.

The board is actually cleaner now then when I shipped it off, he must have cleaned all the rosin and such off from it. I would deffinately have him repair other items for me should the need arise.

Even though I think that is a fair price, I still think that $280 + purchase price is too much to spend.

You can usually get a fully working unit for $250-$350, so unless you already own the card and want it fixed or got it free you are better off just buying a working unit.

Thats what I did with my 4000 MB.  He wanted $150 + S/H to fix it.  I did it once and when it failed again (a year later) I told him I would just buy another working unit.
