Title: What are type of amiga do u have, and what do u use it for?
Post by: Samuar on July 01, 2003, 05:03:49 PM
I'm writing a paper of the use of different system architectures: I'm interested to know what systems (& specs) you guys/gals have, and what role it plays in your household/business/network.

Thank you for your time and effort - to all those who post.

I have:

Amiga 1000 -- I don't use this one much, as it is one of the first few built and I don't want to damage it.  When I do use it, I normally use it for some demos to impress friends.

Pegasos -- My primary machine.  Use it for everything but a handful of games and my HDL work.  It comes with:
Voodoo3 3000
TV card, used to record my shows
G3-600, all I need for a CPU

Do clones/alternatives count or are you sticking with Commodore produced hard/stoft-ware? I have a Pegasos G3-600, 256Meg, 40Gig HD, CD, Catweasel yadda yadda yadda that I use for general computing, web surfing, IRC, games ETC.

I have an A3000D 040/25 that I use from time to time around the shop.
My main machine though has become the Pegasos G3-600 which is becoming
a fantastic machine for everyday use.

Once I had an A500, but now I have an A1200 with some add-ons. I don't use it anymore though, it's in a closet.

I also have a Pegasos, which is my primary "Amiga" these days. I use it for pretty much everything I used my old Amigas for, and more! :-)

I can tell you what I USED to use it for before my motherboard died a year and a half ago:

My setup was:

Amiga 4K, 128 Megs of RAM
PPC processor with extra 060/50
Prelude Sound Card (I think I found the LAST one in the free world)
Cybergraphix video card
Some ethernet card...

I used it to record CDs (I DJ a bit).  The prelude had EXCELLENT sound quality with a lot of inputs.  I was planning to get into song production, but for some reason Prostation Audio would NOT work properly with my soundcard and AHI.

It sat on my network with 2 PCs and a Sega Dreamcast.  I used the amiga as my main machine.  I used the windows machines for stuff like... pages that Ibrowse wouldn't load correctly.  I also used the PC for a few apps like Money.

I used the dreamcast for games.  At that time, it was ALL Phantasy Star Online  :-)

All machines were networked and could access each other's hard drives and they shared one printer.
T'was a nice setup, but alas...

I use my A4000T as my web server and I read Email on it.  Do some web surfing from time to time on there as well.  My A500 is for games and older software that won't run on the A4000.  Info about the hardware set of my systems can be found here - http://mikerye.homeip.net/about_my_computers.html (http://mikerye.homeip.net/about_my_computers.html)

Well, I have an A1200T with 040 accelerator, three desktop A1200HDs, an A600HD, a Checkmate Digital A1500 and my very first Amiga, my A500...

And what do I use them for?
Well, that's a good question. I essentially only use the A1200T and A500. They are used for general tinkering, Blitz basic programming (although I might switch to a miggy to do all my C++ programming as well, as the laptop I use with Borland is nearing retirement), the occasional game and OctaMED. Oh, and if I'm feeling nostalgic, I occasionally drag out a demo.

The other computers I'm in the process of fixing up and ebaying....I need the space (plus the fact I'm moving abroad to work in September! Doh!)

I've got 5 A1200

My primary 1200 I use for Graphic designing and pixelating both for work/buisness and for fun and spare time, I still think that the Amiga is one of the most brilliant graphic machines to work on. Machintosh is always said to be better but I stick to my 1200... :-)
(I actually got one for free today!)

The specs: (I love this blattering :-))

1. Towered Escom A1200
Blizzard 68060 @50 MHz
1.5 + 30 GB HD, CD-RW. IDE-fix.
Mediator w/ Voodoo3 3000, Ehternet, Spider II USB, Sound Blaster of some sort.
A 19" Monitor so I can see where my pixels is flying. Wireless Keyboard and mouse. A modem.
OS 3.9...

The rest of my Ami's is for playing around with.
Got one sat up for LAN Networking soon. Proberbly one is going to be a server when I get faster Internet... :-)

But it's the only computers I have and I'm intending to stick with them as long as possible.

No PC's what so ever...

I don't have a classic Amiga any more, but my last machine was an A4000 with CSPPC/060, 162MB RAM, 40GB HD, CDRW, Mediator, Voodoo 3 3000, Hauppauge WinTV, Vlab, and a bunch of other stuff.

I used it for Internet, playing games, coding,  and pretty much everything else.  It was my main computer.

I sold it 9 months ago to get money for the "soon to be released" AmigaOne/OS4.

Now I have a 17" 1Ghz G4 iMac (which occasionally runs MaxUAE for developing on), a 900Mhz G3 iBook, and a 600Mhz G3 Pegasos (used for internet, software development and so on).  I will get a Pegasos II soon.

I also have a Pegasos which is the only computer in the house: so I use it for practically everything you can imagine :-)

I have one a1200 with a 4meg expansion card
that is connected to a big tv
where I and others play cool games from time to time.

I use another 1200T with a 060/50 for;
surfing, emailing, gaming, ircing, drawing,
playing all kinds of formates of music,
programming in amiblitz2 with a mission
to make games with playability
and also to make artificial intelligence
that learns, in wich I have progressed well.

If you are making a game with excellent/good playability,
but you need gfx, then contact me,
and I'll make gfx for free!!

Because games with playability and originality
are rare these days...

well I have an A1200, you can see the specs here (http://www.ryusworld.webhop.net/myamiga.html) I also have a P120 PC, so my amiga gets used for everything except the very occasional website and a bit of kazaa. Its used for CD burning, graphic design, word processing, mp3 playback, a bit of demo watching, mpeg viewing, lots of IRC'ing, odd bit of game playing, just the typical computer usage really :-)

I've two stock A500's (wb 1.2 & 1.3) plus an A1200 HDD.

My main system is my A1200 with 40Mhz '040, OS3.9, Mediator etc...... which is now ripe for replacement!

I'm waiting for OS4 to appear before I make up my mind, but all the usual solutions are being carefully considered and the advantages/disadvantages are weighed up.

Oh, and for gaming I've got a PS2 :-D

I use my A1200 For image processing.

Admittedly not very often these days,  but when I do use it ... It gets me out of the sh1t.

For example .... I video weddings ... I am given a lot of stills of the couple growing up....  Some of these are inevitably "Portait mode"...

ie: turn the camera sideways....  Well thats ok for a still ...bloody disasterous for tv !!

So now alter the aspect but "retain" the aspect ... if you get what I mean.

Dead easy on an Amiga .. A HELL of a lot of fart arsing around in photoshop.

YES ..Photoshop will do a better job if you spent a sh1t load of time getting it right .... Bollox to that..

Just do it !!

Amiga just Does it!![/b].

I also morph some of those images on my Amiga to get them to "grow up" in front of your eyes ... Finally turning into a still of them from my vid cam in which they "come alive".

All good fun.

The 3 (Read: 11)  Amigas

My Amigas

1. A1200T w/ Blizz060/SCSI, XSurf, PicassoII, DelfinaLite. 4.7Gb hard drive, HD floppy, CDRW/DVD drives. ZIP250 and Syquest135 on the SCSI chain. This is my primary machine. I get email, surf the web, host my website, word process, play games, process images, and encode my CD collection to mp2. It's also the dock for my digital camera and will be accompanying me to college in a few months (along with an awful PC laptop for dire compatibility emergencies).

2. CD32. Used for, amazingly enough, CD32 stuff. Expanded with SX-1 and FMV card. This is my other games machine. CD32 software is great because it never suffers from compatibility problems like the old disk-based stuff. Reassigning NonVolatile to the harddrive removes the classic save game troubles.

3. A1200D. This one's a fixer-upper. It needs ROMs, disk drives, keyboard... er... Everything, come to think of it. Just a motherboard in a case at the moment. This will be a luggable machine eventually.

4. A1XE-G4. It "runs" Linux, but is essentially offline until OS4 is released.

Other Amigas in my house

5. A4000D. PPC/060, PicassoIV, DelfinaPlus, IOExtender. Me dad's machine. Not seeing much use until OS4 is released.

6. A3000D. Offline, new components need to be installed. Used in mixing studio.

7. A500. Trapdoor RAM has died, along with clock. Also part of the mixing studio.

8. A2000. Basement storage.

9. CD32. Another one. Not hooked up. Also has an SX-1.

10. A1XE-G4. Another. Unlike me, my dad can actually use Linux, so this is his primary machine.

11. A600. It's small. It's not here yet.

I love these sort of threads :-)

AmigaOne G3SE with 512Mb registered DIMM added, running at an adequate 600 MHz. Once OS4 comes this computer will be all I need for practically anything.. but for now I just play with Linux on it every now and again. have a tinker with the hardware.

Amiga 1200 with 170Mb hard drive installed with OS 3.1 hooked up to a trusty old 1084S monitor. use for old games and a few old apps i like to play with

Amiga 500 with 1Mb. In the loft but whenever I use it (hardly ever anymore) its for games which wont run on the 1200.

I would like more Amigas though!

I have 2 A1200Ds;

My main machine;
Blizzard 060/64MHz with 32Mb, SCSI Kit with Iomega 2Gb Jaz connected for backup. HP Laserjet 2100 as printer and until recently had a Silversurfer attached for browsing the web. Now have decided that surfing is too frustrating with an Amiga and use my work laptop (IBM Thinkpad A31) for this.

Second machine;
Blizzard 1230/50MHz with 32Mb.

Both are OS3.9 and I use them mainly for MIDI sequencing with OctaMED SS on the 060 and either Bars & Pipes or Sequencer One on the other - synced together to give 32 MIDI channels.

Through the 80s and 90s I had several Amigas (100,500, and 2000) which were for recreation only.

It wasn't feasable to bring them with me to the US. I currently keep an A2000 with video toaster and 2 TBC's. I use it only for live switching on dual camera shoots.  Pretty soon it will be replaced by GV switching board.

A bit late but here goes:

My main Amiga is a 4000D '040 @ 40 MHz (Warp Engine), with an Adriande II (I hope I spelt that right) ethernet, and about 128 Megabytes of RAM, and a 4 gigabyte Harddrive, 4x CD-ROM.  I use it for Wordworth, Photogenics, MindGuard :) and some other stuff I can't remember right now.  Poor things been run through the mill a bit, and has some trouble booting at odd times now, but overall runs quite well.  Standard AGA graphics aren't the best but I can live with it.

I also have a bog standard 2000 that I've for years.  Used to use it for games, and a bit of programming.  My Dad bought it, originally, but he doesn't give a damn about computers, so he hardly ever used it.  Kickstart 1.3.  Still runs great, except for the floppy drive.

Then the last two are a pair of 500s, rev 6 and 5.  One still works and the other has RAM problems (if I read the colour errors right).  Both have a full megabyte via clone expansions.  I need to work on the RAM cards tho', as they both had leaking batteries, that I removed, but didn't nutralize.  Traces are probibly all burnt up now. Pity.  Play lots of old games on'em, especially Lemmings.

If I need to do any surfing or the like, I've an SUN Ultra 1, as I can't stand Intel's hardware, and I'm too poor to afford either a Aone or Pegasos.

I have the A3000T and use it all the time, I have a CAM that I use at work to record problems during the day, PLUMBING and dump it to the PAR via TBC4, then I grab what I need and EMail to customers with cost of repairs, use Scala for intro and have a give verbal information via Delfina PLUS, I believe doing more with less.  What makes this so great is I have the computer I always wanted.  If anyone out there has spare parts like CIA's or motherboards, disk drives I'm always looking I need to have spares for break downs, and I'm no longer afraid to take it apart, I think my warranty is up?

I have one of pretty much every Amiga model, except the CD32, CDTV and A600.

My workhorse machine is an A2000 w/Blizzard 2060. It runs a BBS and is my home LAN gateway machine.

My favourite machine is the A3000D which now sports a CV64/3D and 040 processor.

I also have Amithlon running on a Pentium 3 @ 600Mhz. Used to run it on my Athlon 2000, but since I put the GForce 4 card into the big box, Amithlon fails to show a screen. It was easier to just move it's HDD over to the P3.

 Cache Ya,
 Craig.

I've got an A500 and A3000 that are pretty much stock and haven't been used in a long, long time, and I'm putting together a Pegasos in an aluminum space frame kinda thing.  So far I'm using the Peg to help my kids learn what goes into a computer; when everything's wired up, we'll see what it can do. I'm expecting good things.  :-)

I use an A2000 with Blizzard2060, 2Mb Chip, 64Mb Fast, PicassoII connected to a SCSI Tower containing four HDDs. A HP 4c flatbed and a dead Zip drive are also in the chain. A switchbox connects a Citizen GSX240 dot matrix and a HP840c DeskJet for printing. An external 1760k DD handles the floppies.

I web-browse, email, and manage my site on 56k.

Use TVPaint, ImageFX, PPaint for graphics processing. Run mostly OS3.5, but ocassionally drop back to OS3.1

Am presently awaiting delivery of an AmigaOneXE:

Your'll have to put your scsi rack under the desk so your A1 can sit in its place !!

A1200 with Blizzard 1240 /40mhz , Blizzard Scsi kit (Scsi2) .
Use it to burn some CDs, try some share/freeware off of aminet, learn programming (hoppy), play mp3s, do some gfx work. Ah and play some games, but that's rare.

Thinking about following the official path and buy  an AmigaOne in the fufure with  AmigaOS4 for the same use.

I have an a1200t, with a blizzard 030/50 overclocked to 60Mhz, 32mb ram, an old 1.4 gig Quantum bigfoot hard disk, CDROM, PCMCIA ethernet, os3.9.

I have a PIcassoII and a micronic busboard waiting to go in (a1200 is miles away from me atm).  I never really use this machine now, it's just for geekiness.  I'm thinking about getting an 060 card and/or a soundcard later on.

Well i have some amigas  ;)

1.  One A3000 i got from a customer who retired. Nothing fancy.

2. One A4000, but the cybervision 64 3d seems to be broken.. ;-/

3. One A1200 030/50 32mb, Melody 1200 Pro Mp3-decoder/encoder, works primarily as a mp3-recorder and a streaming audio machine atm.

4. One 1200 030/50 @ work, mainly there to make me feel happy, and running demos when inspiration is lacking.

5. WinUAE (does that count?) , mainly used for software development using StormC 4, and GCC..

Also running webserver with Mysql and Php, telnet server etc on it (the a1200 that is)

Also softwares as PPaint, PerfectPaint, ArtPro, and such makes life easier too..

It's like asking bees if they like sugar :-)

Got an A1200 with 060 50MHz 64MB a 20GB HDD. Also got a mediator plus Voodoo3 in store since I managed to kill the external keyboard which is a necessity in order to use the previus (arrgh!).
I think I managed to convince (read: serius begging) a friend to lend me his, since he's mostly using Linux anyway.

I use my A1200 to write on, surf (IB2.3), e-mail (Yam), make drawings and illustrations (PPaint), programming (StormC, AMOSPro). Well, lot's of things. Except gaming, 24-bit image processing and raytracing. That's what I have my x86 for. XP2000+, FSB 266MHz, 512MB DDR, Matrox Parhelia 512, built-in AC97. Ha! Too late.

(edit)
And I'm waiting for AOS4.0 to be released, then I'm gonna get myself an A1.

I have an A3000D converted to a tower and an A500.

I got the A500 in 1990 to replace my C= 64.  It was my only computer until late 1996.  I then upgraded to an A3000 because the 'net was unbearable on the 500.

I used the 3000 for general computing (i.e. network apps, games, ect.) until 2000.  At the end my 3k was outfitted with a CSPPC 233/50, Picasso IV, and a X-Surf card.

In 2000, I got a K6-2 PC running Win98 for course work (i.e. word processing, simulations, programming) things that couldn't be done on the Amiga.  I used the 3k for everything else.

However, last October, the 3k got VERY flakey and I don't have time to troubleshoot the hardware.  So, I have a WinXP machine I use for network apps and my wife uses for games.  I also have a P3 Win2k laptop and (two heads are better than one!) an Athlon XP Win2k machine I use for course work.  I ditched the K6-2 sometime back in 2001....I think.

My primary AmigaOS box, is a WinUAE-JIT with AmigaOS 3.9 (+ boing ball 1) on the Athlon XP ~2.1Ghz/nForce II 400 Ultra/512Mb PC3200 DDR SDRAM. Connected to Dobby Digital 5.1 set-up. My use of AmigaOS is just for leisure purpose only i.e. getting a time off from Win32 based development.

I have an unused Amiga 3000D with 16Mb RAM, Kickstart 3, 030 @25Mhz, 882 @50Mhz (over clocked) and two Amiga 500 (rev 5 and 6A).

I’m probably a good target for Alan’s AmigaOne (with AOS 4.0)  lite leisure computing target.... .

Like many here, I have several Amiga systems as well. You can find all their specs on my site.

http://www.geocities.com/irperez/

It just lists all of my machines, maybe I will update the site with some specific uses of each machine. I can summerize them as follows: A4000 (basic usage), A1200 (Games/webserver), CD32 (games), CDTV (CDPlayer), A500/A2000 (Museum pieces).

Athlon 2400+ XP
GA-7NNXP m/b
1024Mb DDR RAM
52x24x52 CD-RW
16x DVD-ROM
40Gb 7200 ATA133 HDD
17" LCD Monitor
WinUAE

:¬)  Sorry, could not resist.  But surely something similar must be what the vast majority of "Amiga users" today are running?  What I really wanted, back in 1992 or so, was the A1200.  Somehow it never happened though.  I still look out for them now, but I won't pay the silly prices I often see them being advertized at.  And to be fair, I don't look THAT hard.  After all, it's basically just a collectable now.

Like most here, I have a number of Amigas in my collection.  A3000-primary machine, A1200, A500 w/A570, another w/Supra XP, and one with a GVP expansion, A600 for portable use, and an A1000.

In addition there are number of Windows, Macs, and older machines (Hp's original Hp-85, Apple IIc, several Ataris, a ZX-81)  My oldest son is a Linux fanatic (fanatisism might run in my family).  The modern machines are useful for downloading Mp3s, and those several times when I need compatibility with the Windows world.  My Amigas are easily the most enjoyable and logically elegant machines to use.  The others serve in a supporting role when I'm forced to use them.

Me too ....

O.k. got an A2000 with 2630@32mhz that was my main/only Amiga for about 6years
(had an Blizzard2060 at the end).

Not in use today.

A AthlonXP with Amithlon, which pretty much replaced it in 2001.
Today used for general net-stuff (under Linux)

An 4000 with lots of bits and parts I bought in early 02 (was just a too good deal to resist).
has been used for playing ToT and email for a while, but is now idle.

Since Oct 2002 I got a Pegasos, which I only use for coding and ToT.
Plus Knights&Merchants if I ever find the time again ..

Broken, some have parts to fix others don't
3xA1200 ( mostly screwed up mobos from the line below )
   2xBlizzardPPC cards ( 200(?), 240 )
   4xA500 ( one is a plus )
   1xA4000/040

Working but disused
1xA1200 in a tower running AOS3.5 with ZIV and PicassoIV.
   1xA1500 no expansion, AOS1.3

Working, in use
1xA1200 with Mediator, Voodoo, BlizzardPPC240/060 etc etc trimmings ... running AOS4.0 (beta)
  1xAthlon XP2100 running Amiga Forever
1xThinkpad X21 running UAE on Linux Mandrake 9.1

And plenty of kit given away, some sharing, but thats whats in the same house as I am residing this week.

Then theres lots of non Amiga kit that don't run anything to do with Amigas ;-)

Lessee... I've got:

A4000D, 040/25MHz, 1 64MB card on CF2IDE as Workbench, 1 4GB IDE as Applications and Games, and 1 10GB SCSI as Storage on a fully populated GVP 4008, Compaq SCSI CDROM, 16MB Fast, 2MB Chip, External SCSI ZIP drive, Sega Genesis game pad, Lyra keyboard adapter, New-style OEM replacement mouse, 1950 monitor

A2000HD, stock, fully populated GVP 2008, 1GB SCSI HDD, unknown cartrige-style 1x CDROM. Currently disabled due to the FDD being in the A4000D (my 1.44MB drive needs microswitches).

2 A1200 Boards, currently non-functional

A500 on permanent loan... Some sort of RAM upgrade in the expansion slot, haven't looked at it closely tho. I borrowed it to work on the A1200 boards, needed the PSU. Guy moved and I haven't seen him since. *shrug*

And of course the ever presesnt WinUAE with all the trimmings. Used the KS from my A4000D, since it's the only one with a v3.1 ROM.

Impressive!!  I thought I had it bad...errrr....good.

A4000D, 128MB RAM, Cyberstorm '060 MK1 w/SCSI, Prometheus w/VooDoo3 3000, 18GB 10,000RPM SCSI, Pioneer IDE DVD Rom, RTL8029 Nic, Phase 5 scandoubler from CV64/3d (yes, alone), KickFlash OS4 (45.57 kickstart removes IDE boot delay).... Web browse, Newsgroups, Storm C (learning!), email, whdload.

A3000D, 128MB RAM, Cyberstorm '060 MK2, A4091 SCSI, Prometheus w/VooDoo3 2000, RTL8029 Nic, 4GB 7200RPM SCSI... Ditto from above, except the whdload.. Machine seems alot faster/smoother than above (?!)

A2000, Megachip 2mb, 128MB RAM, TekMagic '060 50MHZ, 4GB 10000RPM SCSI, Amber Scandoubler & Picasso II+, ASDG Dual Serial board, C= Ethernet Nic w/10baseT adaptor... This box is just sitting here gathering dust.  The Zorro II limitations make it feel much slower than the other boxes, no matter the video card,  which have spoiled me ;) so I don't use it much anymore.

A4000D, 16mb RAM, A3640 @40mhz, Picasso IV, ASDG EB920 Nic, 40MB IDE HD and Creative 8X DVD Rom... Lots and lots of Whdload!!!!  AIBB tells me this box is waaaay slower than an A4000/25, probably something to do with the 40mhz overclock and jumpering on the motherboard.

A1200D, 32mb RAM, Apollo 1260LC/75 @ 50mhz.... Web browse ;), email, and lots and lots of whdload, baby!!!

A500 X 3, A2000 X 2.... Gathering dust.

A1200 in parts... Will be resurrected soon and headed for eBay.

I was hit hard by this bug and have had alot of fun assembling this collection.  I'll probably be slimming it down soon considering I've just about experienced it all ;).

A1200 - KS 3.0, 2MB Chip, 8MB Fast, Stock 020 @ 14MHz w/882 @ 14MHz, 1GB IDE HDD

Classic/AGA gaming on a 1084S

A500 - KS 1.3, 1MB Chip, 8MB Fast, Stock 000 @ 7MHz, GVP HD8+ w/50MB SCSI HDD

Classic gaming on a 1084S

A2000HD - KS 1.3/2.0, 1MB Chip, 2MB Fast, Stock 000 @ 7MHz, 170MB SCSI HDD

Just sitting there waiting for a bigger hdd, an opal vision card and an 030 cpu board. Not sure what I'll do with it though.

2 x A1000's - bog standard except for a 256K ram upgrade.

Don't know why I ever bought em, they look cool though :-D

So thats it, thats my Amiga collection, all I use my miggies for these days is playing games, I just don't see the point in using them for anything else. I'm not interested in making music or video editing, and when it comes to work/modern games, my Athlon based machine does everything I need it to. Well...err...thats my AU$0.02 worth anyway.

I recently acquired a boxed Amiga 2000 with a GVP 2001 SCSI card and a 250MB drive.

I added the following:

Blizzard 2060 w/64MB
Conner 4.3GB SCSI drive
Sony SCSI CD-ROM drive
Kickstart 3.1
Workbench 3.1
CyberGraphX 64/3D
ViewSonic PS790
X-Surf

I will use it to play old games, get on the net, and just enjoy the old Commodore scene. :)

Ok, to add my miggies (all of them are hobbymachines, none of them are used as mainsystems):

A1200 (used for everything except websurfing)
OS 3.9/KS 3.1
Blizzard 1260/50

SCSI-tower with:
Toshiba 40 speed SCSI cd-romdrive
100 MB SCSI zipdrive
18 GB 50 pins(!) SCSI harddrive
some sort of SCSI CD-R drive (to be replaced by a Plextor CDRW)

A2000 (works better with games compared to the 1200):
OS 3.1/KS 3.1
2 GB SCSI harddisk
some sort of SCSI-controller with 2 MB fastram
some sort of ramcard with 2 MB fastram
Minimegachip for a total of 2 MB chipmem
2x internal DD diskdrive
A1084 CRT
Multivision 2000 flickerfixer
X-Surf II nic

and and extra A2000 gathering dust on a shelf, also with some sort of SCSI-controller and ramexpansion...

A1200 Desktop:
KS 3.1 OS 3.5
Viper 1230@46MHz
32MB RAM
8GB HD
PCMCIA NIC

A600:
KS 3.1 OS 3.1
2MB RAM
50MB HD

2xA600 Unexpanded:

I use the A1200 for gaming, mostly Frontier
and to test all the great games and software out there.

The expanded A600 is for games that would not run on the A1200.

One of the unexpanded A600 is the heart of my Amiga Laptop project and the other is just for nostalgia(its very, very yellow and its my brothers Amiga)

A1200 1d4 ks3.1 in tower
apollo060@66 64RAM
mediator+voodoo3+ethernet
ps/2-keyboard,mouse adapter
ATX-software-switcher
external tv-tuner
OS3.9 bb2.
This one ami is for everyday using i.e. email\irc\icq etc...

A1200 1d4 ks3.0 in original case
Blizzard030@50 32RAM
Microvitek(Amiga) M1438S (www.webworldinc.com/transdata/ti01014.htm)
OS3.1.
This one just for gaming and some drawing because PAL monitor and tv-tuner of "everyday"-amiga haves poor picture from AGA.

A1200 2b? ks3.1 working plate with pc-keyboard adapter :)

My A3000 is connected to my home network and is used mainly for E-mail, Image Processing (Image FX) and anything where I need a fast texteditior (Cygnus Ed). I also use Bars&Pipes for sequencing. The other computers are for games that won't work on the a3k but are rarely used. I would love a Sunrize AD516 sound card or maybe a Delfine Flipper. I also wouldn't mind a towercase with mediator :-D

Amiga 500, 1.3, 1MB Fast, External Floppy 880k, Pacman Joystick (coin-op like, very durable), Commodore 1084S

Amiga 1200, 4MB Fast, 80MB Conner HDD, 4x Philips IDE CD-rom, Quickshot Joystick

Amiga 1200, 32MB Fast, Blizzard MkIV 68030, 1GB HDD

Right here with me:

Amiga 1200, 200MB HDD

Amiga CD32

Amiga 500+, 1MB Chip, 9MB Fast, RocHard 50MB HDD

Amiga 500, 1MB

Amiga 500, 1MB

that's it

also various other non-amiga (3xC64s, Atari 520STFM, 4xWinBoxes)

all crammed in a 3m x 2m     :-(  - I need more space!

anyone has an A600 you don't need?  :-D

I have an Amiga 1200 and an Amiga 600.

The Amiga 1200 is the only one intact, but they are both in storage.
The Amiga 1200 is nice and white but the 600 is a horrible yellow.

When the A1200 is out of storage its used as a classic gaming system.

1. A4000 in mirage tower with mediator (os3.9)
-PicassoIV gfx card with palomaTV card
-Delfina Lite DSP soundcard
-Oktagon 4008 SCSI card
-Hypercomm 3z i/o card
-some random pci ethernet card
Is used for internet (email/web access, internet banking etc.) GFX, scanning, printing, CAD, word processing, games, mp3 playing (via delfinas dsp decoder), PIC programming, Accounting, and lots of other stuff
Also the palomaTV card is connected to an external security camera which keeps an eye on my car and front door, the a4k takes a snapshot every x seconds and compresses it and saves it onto a dedicated harddisk.

2. Plain A1200 (3.0)
-X10 CM12U unit for home control
-Amigatemp sensors
timer and remote controlling of various things around the house, including lighting, appliances, and control of heating pads in my snakes vivarium via amigatemp sensors.

Also have a spare a4000 (in case the main one packs in), and am planning a custom a1200 built in to my campervan booting from a CF card and with map programs, and possibly a connection to a GPS reciever.

Well, I use my A4000T/PPC mainly for web surfing and mp3 playback. I run AmigaOS3.9 and Debian 3.0 (LinuxPPC) on it, Linux is mostly for using the Opera web browser on pages that are incompatible with IBrowse.

assuming that you mean miggies, here we go :

1. A4000/060, CV64, MFC3, FLZ3, HydraCom, XSurf, ~80MB, ~8G
2. A1200/030, Blizzard SCSI

thats it.

I own four Amigas:

1988 vintage A500 with Kickstart 1.2 ROM and 512Kb RAM expansion - this machine was donated by a friend toegther with an ailing floppy drive

1990 vintage A500 with Kickstart 1.3 ROM, Commodore A501 RAM expansion, Philips Cm8833 monitor and original box.  This was my very first Amiga and is much cherished.

1992 A1200 with Kickstart 3.0 ROM, 370Mb, 2.5" HDD

1992 A1200 with Power Tower, Mediator, Voodoo 3, Apollo 1240 40Mhz accelerator, 64Mb RAM, Soundblaster 128, 10/100 Ethernet, EZKey XS keyboard interface, Twister serial interface, 1 x 11 Gb HDD and 1 x 4.3 Gb HDD.

Lastly (but not included above) is my "virtual Amiga" which is courtesy of Win UAE running on my AMD Athlon 2500.  It's a sad fact that it's compatable with all the Amiga software I own (unlike the previous 4) and is pretty much all the Amiga I'll ever need.

The UAE machine is used to run everything from vintage games to IBrowse, DPaint, music software etc and contains all my original games in .adf format.

Insight into the autonomous thought routines used when scan browsing the fora...

The moment an A2000/A2500 is mentioned, the suspicious poster exception vector is taken and the poster/post is subconciously interrogated for any possible connection with previous incarnations of doomy. A positive hit is stored in the "ignore or ridicule" cache, depending on the mood state...

Worked example:
In this instance the handle "RottyDude" was enough to link him to BoingBoss, who had a picture of a Rottweiler puppy as his avatar for some time.

A4000D w/68040 @ 25MHz
KS 3.0 - 16MB Fast - 2MB Chip
GVP Impact Vision 24 (currently used as a scandoubler/ff and nothing more)
GVP Impact 2000 HC+8 SCSI Controller
Matay Prometheus
Voodoo 3 3000
Realtek 8029 based 10BaseT Ethernet
2 Small IDE drives
2GB SCSI HD
SCSI CD-ROM (not sure how fast, but it's an old caddy based unit)

Everything is sort of hanging out of it at the moment since it won't all fit (of course, it didn't come with the cover for the case anyway so this isn't a tragedy).

I haven't used it for a  whole lot so far.  Mostly getting a feel for the OS and trying out a few games and demos.  I have used it to surf the web once or twice, but the speed left something to be desired.  My plan is to use it as a testbed for my Mozilla porting efforts and maybe even do some of the development work on it as well (assuming I can ever get GCC working on it).

I would do a list of machines, but most of them are in bits since my move.
The one machine that sees some use, and is actually set up:
A1200 in desktop case, with 3.1 ROMS, B1260, 6GB laptop HD, external High Density drive.
But I have, in various states, 2 x A4000 (one is intended for spares only, as it came with no HD cradle, and no k/board), 3 x A500, 3 x A1200, 2 x A1200 in power towers, 1 x A1200 is self made tower, 1 x A1200 in converted KVM switchbox (about the size of a 1u rackmount cut in half - will sit on top of a power tower nicely) 2 x A600, 1 x Checkmate Digital A1500. More accelerators, expansions etc than I'd care to mention...

Been trying to sell some of this lot for a while, but a mixture of procrastination, laziness and downright stubborness in parting with it has not made things easy.

(and please, no PMs etc asking if I want to sell :-))
