Doesnt Gateway still own some part of the Amiga? Some patents etc?
-
Quoting from an old news source....
Amino now owned all rights to the Amiga, apart from the software patents that were still owned by Gateway.
I don't recall anyone ever making it clear what exactly Gateway still held.
If Gateway does still hold some Amiga property, look for the curse to strike Acer next as the infected property changes hands. :-P

Hmmm... Maybe the community should buy the remaining Amiga patents and anything else they still have from Acer...

Although Acer make reasonable products, their support stinks so don't expect any answers or feedback from them.
Well I mean, when you ask "What is the max hard drive size for this Acer TravelMate" and they answer "We don't know, try it and get back to us" you kinda lose faith in them. I had two more of those experiences with that laptop..... :madashell:

Most famously, the patent for the two button mouse. None or few amiga patents as such.
"The technology which was sold to Gateway was primarily a deal to buy the patent on the 2-button mouse... That is why Gateway bought Amiga -- but then they got... thousands of emails asking if they were going to relaunch the Amiga. So they figured, 'why not?'"
