Title: Workbench pictures
Post by: wurzel on August 21, 2007, 09:44:35 PM
Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of education and help ;)

I have a lot of pictures which I want shown as my Workbench. However, I cannot get the whole picture to display, only a small part of it.

Do I habve to alter the size of each picture to a certain size or is there a setting I've missed to show the whole picture?

They are jpg's, if that makes a difference.

Thanks!

Scale the pics to the resolution of your WB.

Perhaps a little off-topic, however installing Scalos (http://scalos.noname.fr), will provide addition options for the way the background is displayed, including placement and resizing.

Cheers,

wurzel: Do you have Image F/X? If so, it's easy to make any picture for a Workbench background. I know V. 1.5 was given as a magazine coverdisk. Otherwise, if the pictures size is the issue, check Aminet for a tool to do it. Just check your Screenmode prefs to see the size of your screen, and scale to that size....

Any tips on how to get a nice and fast workbench backdrop with the AGA chipset?  Is my only option to find a picture which looks good in 16 colors and scale it to fit the desktop exactly?  Do some file formats render faster than others (IFF vs JPG)?

Yep iff is faster than heavily compressed pics. When I had my A1200 it would take ages to decode a jpg for use on a 800x600 16-bit desktop.
