Title: IDEFix 97 Register package?
Post by: Dr.Bongo on June 30, 2003, 03:25:22 PM
I am using a A4k with an IDE cd-rom through IDEFix 97 which I got from Aminet. This is a trial version and every 10 minutes it tells you to obtain an IDEFix registration package, but the website it gives does`nt exist and the email just rejects! does anyone know how I can register IDEFix? Cheers

Spreading serial numbers is illegal. You can still buy IDEfix from here: http://shareit1.element5.com/product.html?productid=106332

That URL points to IDE-Max? Is that the same thing ?

I bought my 4-Way Buffered IDE card on eBay, and it came without software, After weeks searching for a registration solution, I ended up getting the codes from Usenet. Not what I wanted, but I had no other option. (The same issue surrounds MiamiDX, I'd dearly love that, but you can't register it either.)

Do Eyetech sell IDEFix99 on it's own ? and does IDEFix99 work with the older buffered cards ? (the square one)

-Jar.

Thanks for the site. You think they`d make it a little easier to find.

IDEfix97 was renamed to IDEmax97 because the author had copyright issues with the owner of the french comic story Asterix & Obelix. There is a little dog called Idefix in this comic and they thought it could be confused.

@amigamad

Don't be stupid.  What you did is an act of software piracy.  Plain and simple.  It will NOT be tolerated here under any circumstances.

Thats a bit hard master Wayne. I´ve been looking around for it aswell without finding them. And the software being 6 years old, the firm could easily been out of business a long time ago.

Idefix97/IDEmax should be considered abandonware. I mean look at the price, 33 euro, you can get OS 3.5 for 20 euro. Then you have CD-ROM support.

If you look at the posting guidelines you'll see abandonware is still recognised by AO (and the law) as warez. "No discussion."

Just for completeness: it is probably not forbidden to give a link to the well-known (I think) Amiga site http://amigarealm.com/ here. It contains the Power Computing serial number for IDEfix, too. Probably illegal as well, but I vaguely remember a comment from the Power Computing guy about not getting an answer from Elaborate Bytes (author of IDEfix) on his request to publish the serial number. So he thought it would be allowed and published it.
