Title: C=64/128 collectors dream?
Post by: T3000 on August 21, 2007, 12:35:28 AM
Here's one for all you 8bit heads.
CMD FD-2000 Disk Drive (http://cgi.ebay.com/CMD-FD-2000-Disk-Drive-VERY-RARE-C64-Commodore-64_W0QQitemZ300143428675QQihZ020QQcategoryZ74945QQcmdZViewItem)

Where do they come up with these prices?!?
I might have to empty out my closet full of 8-bit stuff. I might be able buy a few cords of firewood for the upcomming winter... :-D

You can still buy them brand new for $189.00.

HA!!!
goto www.cmdrkey.com

and TRY to order one.

Ever since CMD sold out, it's been very hard to get CMD hardware.

MR is a difficult man to reach, last time I tried, and the forums are filled with horror stories of ppl trying to get stuff

I'd love an FD or an HD, but I don't think I can justify shelling out more than a couple clams considering the plethora of 1541-compatible server software for PC and Amiga out there.

very true....
but as an owner of a FD-2000, I can verify that running it on real hardware rocks and using IMPROVED/modern on classic HW, WOW!

It's like a new experience!

MaDDucK is correct.  You can not get new CMD stuff, except for maybe JiffyDOS and even with that you'll need to wait.

it makes me sad what MR has done!
When I got my stuff from CMD in the day, it took a while, but I never had any worries.

He knows my address, so I can't, but why doesn't anyone here email him and see how long it'll take.

I can't speak for others, but it took ~6 months to get JiffyDOS for my 64C and 2 1571s.  I think Maurice is just over his head.
