Title: Trendnet 802.11g rev.C1 card on Ubuntu?
Post by: redrumloa on August 18, 2007, 06:13:17 PM
Anyone have luck with this card on Ubuntu? Probably a long shot on an Amiga forum, but there are *nix users here;-)

I read up the directions on the Ubuntu support site and everything seemed to go fine. In System>Admin>Networking it does not see any SSID and the router does not see it. If I manually enter SSID, hex key etc still no banana. I check further are it is trying to send packets, but not receiving any.

ndiswrapper -l shows driver and hardware is present.

Ideas?

Is it this (http://www.trendnet.com/products/TEW-441PC.htm) card? I have another OEM PCMCIA WiFi card also based on an Atheros chipset which kinda works with the MadWifi (http://madwifi.org/wiki/Compatibility/Trendnet) driver under Debian Etch (i.e. not using NDISWrapper).

Naah, it was different. It was a PCI card. I did some more research and it seems this revision (rec C1) isn't supported at all.

After doing more research of supported cards/chipsets, I went out and bought a Trendnet TEW-423PI. It works right out of the box! :-) I should have done that in the first place. I guess since driver support overall is so improved I just initially took it for granted. A little research first sure helps.

Now to install Ubuntu64 on my primary box..
