Anyone have the schematics, or high res closeups of the board?
I have a buddy who is a talented board designer and I want to have him make me a single slot mediator... but very small, on a ribbon cable, so I can fit just one card into an A1200 desktop case.
Imagine, a video card, with metal tab removed, laying on it's side inside the a1200 (where most people put the CD-ROM) with cable running to an external VGA port.
There is no reason it can't be done.... the only real difficulty is fitting an accelerator card after the pass thru is plugged in... so some direct soldering my be required.

The Mediator is built around FPGA chips and has custom pci.library and driver software. It is a mature product that has many, many man-hours invested into it.

Would it fit? I would have thought the heatsink on the video card would get in the way. Even if it fit, I expect heat would be a problem.

And my buddy is an FPGA programmer... but I understand what you are saying. I'm not trying to just copy the board obviously, only trying to give him an idea of what's involved.

Well, a video card is a lot smaller than a 3.5" hard drive... and I have no trouble fitting one of those so I think it's possible.
