It has long been a holy grail of computing to build systems that manage themselves. Users and vendors have been talking about this for years but there have been some recent indications that we might at last be getting somewhere.

Quote
...IBM invites the world, our customers, competitors and colleagues to accept the Grand ChallengeGlossary Lookup of building and deploying computing systems that regulate themselves and remove complexity from the lives of administrators and users.

Kinda scary stuff though.
Take this a bit further down the line and we end up with all that Terminator 'Skynet' situation.
The machines get too clever.
Man tries to pull the plug.
Machines fight back.

Etc, etc.
