Title: Removing batteries?

I have several Amigas under my bed (A1000, 2000, 500, CDTV, Infinitiv Tower etc., some have a turbo card). I have not used them all for several years as I have no space...

Recently I had a thought: Are there maybe any batteries in the computers that could leak? If yes, do I need solder equipment to remove them? I can at least remember that one of the turbo cards had a removable battery, but for the actual Amiga hardware I have no idea. At least I want no damage on the A1000, CDTV and the Tower)

Unless you have added an Elbox memory card the CDTV doesnt have a battery backed up clock.
The A500 wont as standard either but you may want to look at the card in the trapdoor to see if that has a battery, it may, and it wont be lithium so may leak.
The A2000 has a battery on the board, below the CPU, Check it.
The A1000 does not have a battery backed up clock, worth checking your upgrades to see if they add one though.
A1200 tubo cards almost always have a battery backed up clock, mostly lithium but still you should check them over.
The infinitiv Tower is a towered A1200 right? if so then the A1200 doesnt as standard but your CPU card or clockport card may.. although they will probably be lithium.

to remove them you need a soldering iron and some pliers... a desoldering tool (solder sucker or copper tape) is also good.

The 1000 and 500 dont have batteries. As pointed out, the 500 does have a battery in (some models at least) the RAM expansion. That shouldnt be able to leak and ruin the Amiga, but may ruin the memory board. I wouldnt worry too much about that.

The 2000 though, you absolutely should check ASAP and either replace with a 3.6V barrel NiMH or add a battery clip and diode and switch to lithium watch batteries.

Wow, thank you for the useful replies! I will work on the A2000 asap.

I forgot to mention that I also have an CD32. Is that one affected too? I did not find information on the above link for this device.

Nope, the CD32 doesnt have a battery either, unless you have an SX32 or similar upgrade fitted as I think they do.
