Title: Worst eBayer?
Post by: reddwarfer on August 07, 2007, 09:48:33 PM
What are the worst encounters with eBay that you've all had?
Have you seen anyone with aweful feedback?

The reason I ask is that im confident with eBay but I want to know what to expect now that im trading more regularly. Whether I can cover myself for anything etc...
The feedback one is out of pure curiosity!

Bad encounter 1 - Sold a game for about £30 odd and sent it have the receipt to prove it. Went to portugal. The buyers ebay account was disabled for some reason. About a week later i get a message from paypal saying that the guy hasnt recieved the item and has started a disputeand I have 7 days to respond or it will become a claim. a minute later its a claim. The buyer never responded to any of my emails. The item still had 2 weeks left before it was declared missing by the royal mail. The buyer had 5 negative feedbacks in the same month and the buyer got his money back. Paypal wont respond to me even though I have a reciept hat says when and where I sent the item

Bad encounter 2 - Sold an item to "Filipinogirl" went for about £45.filipino girl then bought the item from someone else. I put a dispute into ebay and was able to claim back mylisting fees but the item only went the second time for about 30 quid

A good while back I bought an a2000 from domy and he didn't ship the machine. We got into the arbitration process, and he of course sent me many nasty, foul emails saying things about my mother and this and that. He finally shipped the machine, when I opened it up it appeared he had taken a hammer to it's insides. ICs shattered, pcb full of holes, etc. He even scratched "f*ck you" on the inner surface of the case. Dude must have jammed a screw driver in the floppy drive a few times, total whack-o

Every other ebay experience, flawless.

I have good ebay experiences.  I am careful who i buy from.  When i sell stuff sometimes have people who cant spell if id ship to other countries and stuff, of course i dont because its a hassle and its easier to get frauded.  Check out the feedback rating and also read some of the feedback left by others before bidding on an item.

Anybody who thinks the primitive craptastic German A2000 is one of the best Amigas ever is clearly a moron. But hey, they have $1200 keyboards, right?

Say what? A guy who values the A2000 as the best machine ever does THAT to one of them? He must have felt like killing his mother when he did that to that poor Amiga.

On the other hand, Doomy sounds to me like someone who HAS actually killed his own mother... (runs off to check the Most Wanted list on the FBI website)

Wow... please tell us you have a photo of this.

Perhaps he sent you one of the Punk Rock Edition Amiga 2000 systems? They were actually designed that way. They're rare! Super rare! D00MY rare! Worth $3200.57!

@koaftder

I hope you filed a complaint with eBay after that!

Seriously, destroying the computer is just downright wrong.
It's like a death in the family to hear of such a thing.

Marcello Coco, wish I could rememmber his ebay user ID, this guy took 10 months to send me an Elbox tower. In the end I threatened legal action. In case anyone wonders, yes, damn right I would have sued.

I think I would have notified authorities and sued him for that one.  It's not too late you know.

What would be the point.  he would say that you just wrecked it and reported him in revenge.

neither side would be able to prove without doubt that they were correct.

Would just be a waste of time

maybe he's innocent, and it simply failed to pass it's MILSPEC testing...

sorry to hear that, what kind of issues do you have to have to take someones money and then act like some kind of stupid child (at best) when they have the sheer audacity to expect the goods they gave you money for  :-?

I've always had positive experiences except when I sold an A2630 accelerator to 23703james. I had tested it before shipping and it worked fine. It was sold as-is, no warranty however.

He got it and said it didn't work but I was out of town and didn't respond to his message until the next day. He already left me negative feedback ( my first negative) before even talking to me. I ended up refunding all his money even though I didn't have to and the best we could do was remove feedback but in my opinion that looks about as bad as negative. I also let him keep the card. I keep wondering if I'll see that card for sale on ebay though since I know it was working before shipping and I tend to over-package.

I just tossed it in the trash. Suing people of a few hundred dollars just makes lawyers money and wastes your time, and the authorities just don't have the time to spend on piddly things like this.

Well, good point, but at the least I would have made his life difficult somehow, like for instance taking a picture of it, and starting an auction for $1000 (so noone buys it) with a label on the photo saying "THIS IS WHAT DOOMY SENT ME. BEWARE.".

I would do that monthly until the end of time or my account was killed. heh.

I dont understand why would he put an A2000 on auction if he would not want to ship it later on?

Probably procrastination. "I'll ship it tomorrow", day rolls around, "i'll ship it tomorrow". Why do people let the laundry pile up, let the fridge get nasty or put off mowing the lawn? I paid immediately, and waited weeks to get it in. He got ticked off when I went for arbitration. Some people just suck.

I bought a "genuine A590 power supply ! Very hard to find  !!"..  Thats what the eBay ad said.

I only had a converted A500 pwr supply on my A590 so I got it at only $30 AU a good price..

It turned up...  you guessed it,  a converted A500 power supply.  When I quizzed the guy he basically replied:
How was he to know it wasn't genuine!, but it works and it's your bad luck.
I had asked the question on the listing but he didn't reply.  His ID was private.. Yes my bad.. Should have been a warning to me.

It took a week of back and forth but when I threatened arbitration he agreed to give me a discount of $15.00.
Then another week and a bit passed and another threat before the money appeared in my account.

Yes its hardly worth it for $15 but people who obviously take advantage of others need to be pulled up.  I don't see him on ebay any more..(at least by his old name)
