What would cause the 'Leave Out' command not to work?
Thanks,
Steve
-
Which version of the OS are you running?
-
Forget the standard "leave out" -option, use IconLink (http://aminet.net/search?query=iconlink) instead, it's good.
-
That IconLink sounds pretty useful, thanks.
-
I'm using WB3.1
-
Are they actually real genuine icons, as in a file on disk called "something.info" or are they pseudo-icons created by the Show All Files menu option?
-
Real .info icons. Also, I'm using Scalos V1.2 and have it set as a Backdrop, if that matters.

Thanks, I've downloaded that and am going to check it out. :-)

As you are not using Workbench itself, I can offer no more help.
-
try to snapshot the icon after leaving it out and see if that helps.
-
Already tried to snapshot, but alas, after I rebooted, they were back in the usual drawer.
-
Probably a Scalos bug.
-
Oh, icky. It requires 3.5 or above. I only have 3.1
-
I found out that it has something to do with the drawers being on my 'Work:' partition. None of the drawers on it can be 'left out'...
The drawers in my 'System:' partition work fine. They can all be 'left out'.
Baffled,
Steve :-?

Try it on a normal Workbench without Scalos. If it still doesn't work then open a shell and type 'info'. Check what status is shown for work: Read/Write, Read Only, Unvalidated, Validating etc. If it is Read/Write then type 'list work:.backdrop'. Make sure the file has the r (read) w (write) and d (delete) bits set.

Yep, looks like everything checks out there.
Anything else to check?
Thanks,
Steve

Ahh... I fixed it. I just renamed the old .backdrop file so the system would create a new one, and now all my drawers can be 'left out'.
Thanks guys,
Steve
