Title: 55 watt PSU enaugh for A1200 ?
Post by: cv643d on June 27, 2003, 03:53:50 PM
Hello.
Is a 55 Watt PSU enaugh for an A1200 with 040 or 060 and with a notebook harddrive, floppy drive and PCMCIA network card or flashcard.

Thinking about mounting a Mini-ITX fanless 55 Watt PSU inside my A1200 shell to make it more portable.

Yes it is.

I'm running virtually the same config (My Amiga Spec (http://www.legolas.com/amiga/myamiga.html)) off an A500 PSU, which is 50W.  Totally stable.

Just for comparison, the A1200 PSU is a 22.2W total output according to THIS PAGE. (http://www.ntrautanen.fi/computers/hardware/misc/a500_power.htm)

I'm running a similar configuration (A1200, Blizzard 1260, hard disk, and PC card NIC) using the standard A1200 power supply (22w as posted before). If your design works out, be sure to share it with the rest of us.

My Amiga 1200 has a 060, Notebook Harddisk,128 MB and SCSI-kit, 2 floppy drive and pcmcia network card on an Amiga 500 PSU. If you are going to buy more memory (>64 MB) or a scandoubler,  you  have to buy  a more powerful PSU.
