Now that the Mini-mig will start to show up in the wild, it would be cool if we could come up with some (for lack of a better term) branding for it. So, how about posting some logos and splash screens here. My suggestion is a little Mig fighter plane with the call sign 'Dennis' on the side.

Here is a link to a page full of logos using the letter M as a logo for reference.

As long as the logo/mascotte isn't some furry-type thing made by Eric Schwartz I'm happy ;-).
-
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I want some little cute furry animal.
Ah yeah,and by Eric Schwartz of course :lol:
-
what about this:

-
I hate all sorts of army eqiupment. It's soulless. So you wanna start the Minimig project like this? A soulless mascot would point to soulles hardware and software. Look at Microsoft and you know what I mean.
-
I may have been joking... :roll:
-
How about this?

-
I know it probably will touch some copyrights but it would be funny to have Dennis the Menace in it as well.

Definitely! AROS' Kitty is absolutely great - we need her small cousin for Minimig.
-
What size should the logo be? I could make one for ya'all to evaluate.
-
Rats someone had my idea before I could post. oh well here goes.

A more simple one 1st was more of a banner.

Mini-MIG...
The Do It Yourself Computer for the rest of us...

-
That is on the right track, but I would avoid any Amiga logos or trademarks. We want to keep Mini-Mig clean after all. I would want to see the plane 'cartooned up'.
-
yes please..nothing Amiga related (logo wise) and no furry creatures, thats crappy looking.
@crom:
that looks good

This one has my vote.

I'll try and cook some more up tomorrow :)

ANything with a trademark image registered to someone else is just asking for trouble.And we know who has lawyers and isn't afraid to use them.
M.I.G. is known in industrial welding so maybe a little guy "welding" a computer together?
-
Confuses my eyes atm.. so much for a first shot.
On some different contrast backgrounds:

Couldn't really sleep so I tried a second time...
This is more wildstyle I guess:

I like Crom00's M logo, but I like this one too, and it looks like it would be easy to convert to black and white, as well as being very scalable.
I would think that when we decide on a logo, it should work in black and white as well as color, and should be scalable from Icon sized to poster size.
We would also want a splash screen. What is the default screen size for the Amiga. Actually, what is the current Amiga's splash screen dimensions?
-
I tried to make a logo, but it did not turn out that great. Not even going to bother upload it. Sorry.
Also, I am not going to comment on the logo's there have been made by others.
-
@ LP
That sorta looks like a cat's eye. :-D
Dammy

Forget the fancy logo, what it needs is a catchy new name! How about Clarence or Monty Pants or Chipelendra?

That's agreed!
No yiffing. :-P

Done quickly with Imagine3D

I'm no graphics expert, so I did this in MSPaint. Here's my suggestion:
(http://home.no.net/husq410/minimig.gif)
The Amiga check mark on the left hand side, followed by two M's, as in Minimig.
It's also a nice graph showing AInc's productivity. he he
-
I like this one (from LP):
(http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/638/minimig000bt0.png)
Or maybe something like this (building on Blinx123s idea):

(http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/433/minimig0qe8.th.png)

I like LPs set!

You lot are nuts.
Although MiniMig is real, it exists and the resources are out there for anyone to build it; you haven't got one.
Who cares about logos for something you haven't got?
All this jacking off over logos is the reason why you lot are sucked in by vapourware; you see a nice logo and you assume it's something you can have.
How about we have a piece of hardware that doesn't have a logo for a change, at least until someone turns out a production run.
-
Do you burst the kids' balloons at parties too? :lol:
-
My suggestion is, what whatever logo is used..Keep it SIMPLE!!
Too bad you couldn't use the old "check mark" with just the letter
M in the same Amiga Font...
and mabye the rest of the name in smaller(but not too small) print.
Just a few thoughts..

Here's £1, go buy yourself a smile. :)
And what's wrong with a little daydreaming anyway?
-
This one gets my vote.
-
@LP
Like it, but no need for the subtitle!
jaminJay :-D
-
@Crom00
That looks very professional, good job! Well, it has my vote :-D
-
Amicus
-
@freqmax
Is this a fleesh eating squirrel:) ?
I can see something like a finger near it's mouth.
Edit: Damnit, I may have found the perfect mascot now. It's the user avatar of someone here at Amiga.Org. The avatar of Zombi to be precise.

I don't know...how 'bout a sprig of broccoli?
-
@Crom00
This logo is by far the best... I think the Amiga compatible may help with copyright stuff too...
Alyhough the catseye one on the white background looks kinda good to...
-
@Crom00
Your logo is nice. I would just make the big "M" a little thinner and the "miniMIG" a bit bigger. Then it would be perfect :).
-
I have collected all suggestions here:

Oh so companies release products first and then design a logo to market it? Of course you design a logo before it's ready for the public.
Joshua.
-
It's all about psychology. The logo will remind people of the project just like C= will cause a flashback for some people of commodore days :-)
-
@Fester
how 'bout a sprig of broccoli?
Or, or, or, a broccoli ring!

Gggrrr...I keep telling you guys, broccoli is evil, EVIL I SAY!
....heretics. :evil:

Err,why are there 2 Zombi Avatars on the mascot page? Do we have 2 Zombis here?

your renders are pretty cool.. i like that too.. (the first one..)

Well there's no company but anyone can download the designs and source code (which I already have) and either get it made themselves or find someoen to help (Which I'm doing).
So it does exist, and we can get it so yeah a logo for it might be nice :-D

Linux is not a company. Neither is amiga.org or AROS. I suppose all of those organisations should ditch their logos.

Dennis the Menace plus Kickstart 1.3.. after all Minimig is an A500-clone!
-
Crom, Steve, and the wild one are great logos. A logo should look good in just two colors (for t-shirts, etc).
Please lets not use ANIMALS,CHECKERED BALLS, or CHECK MARKS. Come up with something ORIGINAL! It's not 1995 anymore!
cv643 has an awesome one too... maybe make it just a little more readable.. and it would look awesome as a t-shirt.

I agree. What a joke. Surely you can do better?
I guess you Americans with your Blonde-Dennis-the-Menace don't get the REAL (original) Dennis I used!

Perhaps this short guide (http://www.jdempsey.com/9-rules-to-creating-a-logo-you-can-live-with-and-still-get-payed/) will be of use to some of you.
-
@Turambar
my thoughts exactly! :D
I have some years of experience in logotype/brand/C.I. design now and I must say THOSE are the only rules that always work! ;)
And now... think I'm gonna put some ideas down on paper! ;D
-
@vic20owner
Wow thanks, yes that is my style it is meant to be slightly unreadable! :-)
But ofcourse I can make a more readable version!
Made it in PPaint BTW.

Here's a throwback (somewhat) for those of you who voted for the tick in the recent poll. :idea:
-
That was my point... I was setting an example of what not to do.
-
@Turambar
Good link, but one rule make me want to strangle the guy:
I ALWAYS design my logos in Adobe Illustrator.
Any logo, even one for a Web site, needs to be scaled for different use. Designing a logo in Photoshop leaves you with a ceiling you may not be able to live with later on. Designing your logo in Illustrator also allows you to “break it apart” and use the pieces in other aspects of the client’s work. It gives you flexibility in how it’s used (outdoor, ads, multi-media, etc.) and keeps it easy to edit later.
ehehe.. though I presume you can translate it to:
ALWAYS design your logos in vector graphics
-
From a copytheft point of view I'm kinda worried about the slogan: "Amiga in an FPGA".
Sure it's good to explain to the man in the street what it's all about. But to be exact I think it should be changed to:
"UAE in an FPGA". It's more accurate (as its exactly what Minimig is), it goes with the GNU spirit (as part of the core is based on UAE) and I'm sure Toni Wilen wont sue minimig since it should be allowed based on the lisence, or will you sue minimig Toni W? :)

I like this. It keeps the roots of the Amiga and looks pretty good.

Don't do this either. ;-)

I think this by Loriano AKA TheDaddy is the closest so far:
(http://www.loriano.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/DSCN3177piccola.JPG)
And this by ACube systems isn't too bad, but a bit cluttery:

@Turambar and others
The page '9 rules to creating a logo you can live with and still get paid' has been moved to this (http://thegraphicmac.com/9-rules-creating-logo-you-can-live-and-still-get-paid) location :-)
