Title: Subway USB installation in an A500 / MUI install problems
Post by: darksun9210 on July 22, 2007, 09:52:26 PM
evening all! hope you're all doing fine. as for myself, i'm having a bit of a mental blockage...

i have an A500 as specc'd up below, and i need to get MUI installed to be able to run the trident preferences program for the Subway USB card to be activated!

i have parneted the A500 to my A1200 to copy stuff over in the past, the problem i have is that my A530 as been converted to a molex power socket, and the mini-itx PSU i usually have running the A1200, is powering the A530.
so i can't have both the A1200 and A500 running at the same time. previously to copy files, i used my gvp HD8+, as that had its own PSU but that has since gone south, so i can't use that as a temporary measure to have both my A500 and A1200 running at the same time.

so i need to get MUI 3.8 installed on my 500 to be able to run the Trident USB stack prefs program, to activate the subway card, to be able to read a USB stick with the MUI.lha on it. ARGH!
all i have available is the standard double density floppy drive, plus various PC's used for storing ADFs, and as software life support for my amigas.

so really, i need to get the 900+kb MUI download onto a 720kb PC diskette

Is it a single archive?
Either unarc it and just copy some of the MUI files at a time, or use a splitter like HJSplit (http://www.freebyte.com/hjsplit/).

Bob's your second cousin.

go the HJSPLIT route, there are some files inside the MUI archive that windows don't like... if u use windows to unarc it lo

or, you could run WinUAE..
unpack .lha
repack files into appropriate sized .lha's to fit the 720kb disk.

that worked for me until i got the zip drive up and running...

@pyrre

Or you can drop WinUAE and just use Windows LhA (that might do nasty things to protection bits though)...

Yes, but the safest way. If no other option is possible.
(to save the protection bits) is WinUAE...
Though, it's hard work getting it ti work, in the first place.... :-(
