Title: I need help installing some cards
Post by: wildstar1063 on July 21, 2007, 03:38:38 AM

I have a delfina Lite card, and A Cybervision 64/3D card,
and I cannot remember what software and drivers I need to install them. I have the cards, but no manuals or disks, as
 I bought them on ebay.

I had them up and running about 2 1/2 years ago, but had a hard drive crash, and then was out of the country for 18 months, I'm just getting everything put back togeather again, and cant for the life of me, remember how to install these cards.

I have 3.1 roms, and 12 megs of static coulmn zips, in my
tower. plus a G-Force 040 currently running os 3.5, getting ready to upgrade to 3.9, as soon as I find the disk.

I remember the Delfina needs AHI, but do I need some kind of drivers from a Delfina disk first? Petsoff's site is gone now, but I did find an archive of it using the "Wayback Machine" at archive.org.
drivers from the Petsoff?

The Cybervision card needs either Cybergrafx or Picasso 96
any opinions as to which is better? I seem to remember that I had the Cybergrafx software on before the crash.
also do I need any special drivers from Phase 5 to makethye card work with either software.

After I get these installed, I want to start working on installing my A-Max iV card. and my Quicknet 2000 ethernet card.

Thanks

You can just install CybergraphX v3 and choose the CV64/3D during installation - no additional drivers are needed.
CGXv3 can be downloaded from several places - I'll recommend the Unofficial Phase5 support site (http://phase5.a1k.org/index.php?id=3). You can also download the CV64/3D manual from there.
CGXv4 is available, but is a commercial product so you would have to buy that if you wanted it (unless you already own it of course). Should you install CGX v4 you will need to either:
1) Install the latest update (also downloadable from the Unofficial Phase5 support site)
or
2) Install Exec44beta4 available from Piru's homepage (http://www.iki.fi/sintonen/sw.html)
Otherwise your CGX screenmodes will not be visible within screenmode prefs, due to a bug in the CGX system when using exec library >v40. In fact, this might also occur with CGX v3 - I can't remember. If so, install the exec44beta4 patch.

Picasso96 also supports the CV64/3D, but as I've never used it with that board, I can't recommend it myself.

Software for the Delfina Lite can be downloaded from this (http://amiga.resource.cx/exp/delfinalite) page, however I'd imagine that the version of AHI which is bundled with OS3.5 and OS3.9 will contain the latest driver developed.

I'd advise just installing AHI - if it does not contain the driver for the Delfina you can always install it afterwards, then select the Delfina board in AHI prefs.

Thanks for the info, I successfully got the CyberGrafX 3.x (Whatever came on the OS 3.5 disk) installed and working with my CyberVision 64/3D card, but I must have made some incorrect choices in the install, as the Screen Prefs only give me one choice for the card, it is I believe 640X480 with 256 colors, I seem to remember a resolutiuon of 1024 by something with millions of colors. Maybe I need that Exec 44 thing to get it to show me other resolutions.

Any one using CyberGrafx 4.0? Is it worth purchasing over the version on the OS disk?

I will try to get the Delfina card installed after work tomorrow, then on to the A-Max IV card, I'm thinking of
givine the A-Max a little 1 gig SCSI of it's own.

Any one have case parts for a 3000T? I would like to get the whole plastic face piece with the drive covers.

Thanks

You can use the CGXmode tool (in prefs iirc) to make other screenmodes available.

Since you can at least see one CGX screenmode available then you do not (at this stage) need to install exec44beta4 - if this was required you would not be able to see any CGX screenmodes, only the native Amiga ones.

You could always put an advert on Amibench asking for anyone with a broken A3000T, but I think your chances are slim. Also, Amibench is a bit crippled at the moment due to a spambot creating a ridiculously proportioned ad.

OK,

I got the other screen modes made availabe, I forgot to
give a refresh rate in the install, and it just defaulted
to the one available screen mode. I went back and re-
installed with the correct refresh rate, and got all the
 Screen Modes.

My next question reguards Mode Promotion. I seem to remember
some program, that would make other software appear on the
CyberGrafX screens, but I cant remember what that program
was. Does anyone know what programs are used for mode
 promotion?

Thanks.

here is new AHI which supports most cards including Delfina. I use Picasso 96 with all my amigas, it works great with Cybervision 64 and 64/3d
